Thinking about copping a Vita on Black Friday, has anybody tried remote play for Destiny or any other games? How is it and is it worth it?

Would like to know this as well. Still unsure how it works. Do ypu have to own the game on both consoles?

Boost: If you're playing off your own network it's fine. Anything else there is a pretty noticeable lag. But Vita for any shooter is not fun... the sticks and buttons are hard to use effectively. Vita is almost worth it solely for the free games you get from PS+. 

Jewel: Your Vita basically acts as a controller for your PS4 with the TV replaced by the Vita screen. So if you have Destiny in your PS4 or any game D/L on your HDD, you can use your Vita to turn on your PS4 and play those games. The only real difference is that you can be anywhere that has an internet connection and connect. But as I told Boost, it only works reliably on your own home network.

i dunno if its been pointed out, or if anyone feels like i do... but it brings great joy to my heart seeing how all the halo/xbox fanboys are in agony over this botch of a release on their side. makes me feel ultra proud of my decision to switch sides this go-around. cuz i still remember all the talk about "we have halo tho! who cares about *insert PS exclusive* because we get all the halo's again!" and now....

it just brings a tear to my eye. its poetic.

I've played Destiny on mine and it was ok. The lag is pretty noticeable though so I would stick to pve. I would mostly use it to farm for materials while in my bed or away from home. Also, I would recommend picking up the controller grips for the vita. Makes it much more comfortable during extended use

Depends on the game, for shooters it might not be the best but I enjoyed inFAMOUS using remote play.

If you've been collecting the PS+ games as well then it's a no brainer.

PlanetSide 2 PS4 beta planned for 2014

Sony Online Entertainment has been quiet on the PlayStation 4 version of massively multiplayer first-person shooter PlanetSide 2 for some time. But it's still on track for 2014 - in beta form at least.

Creative director Matt Higby told Eurogamer a beta will launch on PS4 by the end of the year. More information is expected to be announced during December's PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas. The PC version of PlanetSide 2 turns two-years-old later this month.

The PS4 version, announced in June 2013, has taken time to develop because the designers want PlanetSide 2 on PS4 feel like a "full-on console experience" and not just a port of the PC original, Higby said.

As for the visuals, Higby said the PS4 version compares "very favourable" with the PC version. The PS4 version, he said, uses the ultra textures, full particle effects, shadows and lighting from the PC version.

"From a graphical fidelity perspective, I think people will be very impressed with what they see on the PS4. That's always one of those things people are sceptical about. I see every time we post an article like this I always get called out: 'haha, it's ******** that he's saying it's going to look as good.' It really does."

The bottleneck is not on the GPU side but on the CPU side, Higby explained. "It's because we're tracking and updating so many different players moving on your screen and moving around at once. All that animation and all the audio that's associated with all those characters running around, all of their projectiles being simulated in their client, all those things end up hitting the CPU, not the GPU.

"So, generally when your frame-rates are low, it's a CPU problem, not a GPU problem. And that's where we're optimising right now, to get our CPU running faster so the game is running at a more consistent frame-rate on the PS4."

Higby said SOE is "running for 1080p" resolution on PS4, and, "we're still trying to shoot for 60fps". But as far as the frame-rate goes, this may change.

"We're trying to get a solid frame-rate," he said. "So if we go to 30 it'll be because we want to maintain a completely solid 30fps. But that's the optimisation we're working on right now. And we're still grinding on it.

"Generally speaking the client is running at well over 60fps. In a really big fight it bets bogged down. That's the bottleneck we're chasing down."

I was wondering the same but judging from ol' boy's joyous fanboy post further up this page I assume something is wrong with the online part of the Master Chief Collection?

Halo master chief collection has a matchmaking system problem. Which has led to peple waiting a long time to get into a match. Halo used dedicated servers for match making, so there's some type of problem with that. The game's devs. said that they'd release patch notes detailing all the issues.

People can set up their own online games, since Halo uses p2p servers for custom games.

Sunset overdrive didn't have any problems.

Both consoles have their fair share of issues! I prefer PS to Xbox because I like the variety of games PS offers as opposed to Xbox. Fan boys didn't bother me in the last but it's ridiculous now. I agree with empire; the better that PS, Xbox and Nintendo do, the better it is for the "TRUE GAMERS", the ones that like to play different games and genres not just the same stuff over and over.

Yeah, even though Halo is the god of all multiplayer It had Bungies crazy *** servers, and If you remember back in the Halo 2-3 days I rarely if ever had issues with matchmaking.

Give back Halo to Bungie if you want the beloved Halo to act correctly.

I'm halfway through Far Cry 4.

Prepare to get your privilege checked in the first 5 minutes. 

It's kind of fun but my biggest gripe is they somehow managed to dumb down the game play even more. It's kind of insulting.

Not worth paying full price for this.

That's good to hear. I got a full refund for Halo so now I need to find a replacement. I was hesistant because of all the bad things I heard about ACU. I'll still wait a few days or a week before I make a decision.

This was another game I thought about trying but I wasn't too fond of the first one. I really didn't give it a shot tho

Far Cry 4 was destined for greatness ever since it was announced.

Ubi just needs to not .... it up like it's other franchises.

Far Cry is easily one of the best franchises Ubi has to offer.

It's fun and doesn't take itself seriously.
