This is exactly what I told my girl... haven't had sex since smh...

advertising and marketing is helluva drug

also, marriage needs to be re-evaluted legally in society. it should be seen as nothing more than a social custom, instead of something with any sort of legal standing.

I didn't spend over a g on the ring cus I didn't have it and I didn't want another bill.( thankfully my wife was satisfied and accepting ) Rings don't mean a thing in the grand scheme of thins, as big of a role as they are, they become can become just a sore gift after a divorce or just something fought over. More importance should be placed on the marriage itself than the symbol. ( No hate to those that can afford stone hendge )

Don't need an article to tell me that the way marriage is viewed in society is ridiculous.

But, socially, the size of the ring shows how much you love your wife.

Inb4 someone tells me their wife was different. A good majority will say that, but they know the truth.

#antimarriage ftw

Some people forget a man gets a ring too.

Anyways, if I do get married I dont want a real diamond and I kind of dont like rings.
Tacori has a fake diamond collection (diamonque) and they have a great cheap selection
I wouldn't mind getting that, Im pretty sure I will lose it though
I lose all my jewelry

QFT. I found a ring that I know my fiancee would love. It didn't cost a arm and a leg, but she, as far as I know, is happy with it. I also consulted her mom and BFF about the ring and they both said that she would love it.

For the fellas that are thinking about proposing and getting her a ring:

1. Make sure that you are ready to take the next step. Take time and evaluate on whether if you can deal with your lady everyday, for the rest your life.

2. Take your time and get info on what type of ring she would want (Size, cut, caret, setting, etc). There's a lot of info when it comes to purchasing a engagement ring.

3. Spend what you can afford. Come up with a budget and stick to it.

4. If you can't drop thousands on a ring at the moment, save a little $$ from each paycheck until you reach your budget.

word, the flaws that you see, you should be prepared to deal with forever. Don't expect a change. That don't mean don't try for it, but you gotta assume it wont change and accept her positives and negatives.

nothing is forever, so why submit yourself to something like that? If you car is messed up and you can't fix it you won't stick with that damn car forever, you go and buy a new one. Two different things, but the same principle applies; nothing lasts forever. I mean, if you guys are truly in love then why does it need a label and a ring to solidify your marriage? Why not be together just the way it is so if anyone decides to leave then its all good. I think there are more pros to not having an official label to being together than cons. I'm just coming up with all this because i'm cheap and broke

Also,
>2013
>still buying diamonds at marked up prices because you're a sheep

....

Its like all traditions and living in America, If your the male and don't participate, your going to be looked at as cheap to the family and friends, and you explaining the traditional sham will only be looked at as excuses...

I'd say the best way to counter this is find a female with a brain like the author of the article perhaps and propose this idea..

Having a rock on your womens hand does ward of many gentlemen caller though...

Plus the russians have enough diamonds to flood the market and drop the prices of diamonds..

As much as I don't value diamonds and jewelry in general, I have a feeling my future wife and her family won't share my sentiments. I'll have to buy one anyway :frown:
