I've noticed that when I go to releases around LA it be a lot of the same people over and over. Specially when it's the more talked about/hyped releases. Wether it be at the HoH locations, Nike Vault, Blends, etc... Always gets me thinking who's on NT.

Let's use this thread to introduce ourselves to one another and provide info. for future releases...

the name is Self, and you will never find me at hoh, blends or nike vault. i stick to sneaker booutiques like undftd, proper or have my connects hook me up. you wont find me trying to cop lebrons, kobes, or kds. i strictly choose og colorway jordans or qs sbs, although ive been reducing my sb count lately.

Name is Ethan and like self said you will never see me at HoH, nike vault, nike store, FL, champs, or probably ever anywhere except the outlets on rare occasions.  Too busy to camp and will admit I usually just pay resale if I strike out online and want a shoe, to much BS to go through the last couple years I'm over the hastle and hypesters.  Used to cop sbs over at hot rod cause they the homies and always lookin out but sb has just been getting exponentially worse the last year and counting so I mostly just cop Js and some foams as of now.   Thought I'd post in here tho cause In anycase im in LA.

:wow: when did the hype get that real? :\

I'm getting too old for ish like this :smh: :frown:

I spy some females though  :nerd: :smokin

I just started to get back in the sneaker game. Was a big Jordan and Air Max collector until 2004. Sold off most of my collection to raise funds for grad school. Recently got back in the game, but it has changed so much and don't think I will ever be a significant collector. Just too expensive. Now, I am more selective. The MSRP has gone up too much. Usually get my shoes from NDC or FNL or craigslist. Don't have time to wait in line.

Agreed. It amazes me how so many people are offended when people call the sneaker obsession a game. Any one who spends time on the boards, in search for the next shoes, posting pics on forums, and/or waiting in the cold or shine (see above pics) or waking up in the AM to buy shoes should consider this a game...or loosely said, a hobby.

No..you don't know me. But, obviously you're pretty sensitive about the "game" comment. You might want to wear some tampons when you type....

It kind of has morphed into more of a game than a hobby now. Staying up to date on everything. Everybody's got their own sort of strategy on copping real limited hard to get releases (like the royals recently), ordering from overseas, trying luck online, camping, setting up computer alerts and browser updates for random returns and back orders popping up on FNL. It's a game for sure. A serious game

Back to the topic at hand...

I'm Jay. Just recently returned to Niketalk after about a 5 year hiatus, but been a member for as long as I can remember (I'm talking Nubuck AJ 12 Pack days).

Usually cop from NikeTown and Nike SM after the RSVP'ers don't show up. Can't lie...I miss the good ol' days of waking up early, driving to a store, and actually getting to TRY ON a shoe. The RSVP/raffle system has definitely taken a lot of fun out of the "game".

Jay is that really an effective method? I'm in LA too and think about trying it a lot but never have. I always envisioned a bunch of cats showing up early and lining up for shoes that not even be there. That thought always deterred me

I like the suspense of the raffles. Those 5-10 minutes are like

I hate the campouts now, Employees never ever tell you how many pairs they have in stock.
For the royal blue 1s, there were about 30 ppl camping out. Come morning time, they were like, we only have 6 pairs

Whats going on im Israel been lurking and joined NT in 04

Ive tried to shop online for new releases but with all these sites crashing you gotta know people at spots now or pay over retail

I dont mind paying a bit more over retail, I just cant campout anymore...too old for that.

Mostly shop online and ebay too, people are always getting rid of stuff and need cash.

Yup...Most people RSVP without actually being able to buy the shoe. I've gotten a good amount of shoes like that. Less stressful I find.

I was at the Nike vault earlier for the Easter Pack release. I was just there for the Kobes, and was fortunate to walk away with a pair. Showed up with my girl and my homie (he got a pair too)

Not that many people showed up this time. We got wristbands 50, 51, and 52 and we were the last ones to receive the wristbands. About 10/15 of those people were there just for the experience lol. When their number got called they didn't even buy them. They were tourists or people that were there with other people who had already gotten thier number called :x
