What's up guys? Me (owner of gold street capital fund lp) and BigLescobar (OG NTer, and jewlery thread legend and the owner of a popular shoe brand that just returned to the market as well as other brands in the shoe/apparel field) are exploring the idea of creating a venture capital firm with the primary objective of taking small businesses and turning them into mid size brands or something potentially larger. You may remember my hedge fund thread from the past, my financial expertise combined with BigL's business background can fully encompass what a VC firm needs in order to nurture the growth of small businesses and ideas.

If anyone knows of people looking to grow their respective businesses or know people within the venture capital community please share your thoughts. Also looking for people who have worked in the VC field in the past....

Best of luck.

I'm fairly familiar with VC's and the startup/tech community in NYC. I also have a venture of my own, feel free to contact me. What sector are you guys trying to enter? Also is it mostly seed deals or larger?

So you're going to start a VC fund with a retail focus? I'm going to be interning at a BB this summer, hopefully in a consumer/retail industry group. If this takes off I'd love to work with you. How viable do you think it will be to raise your fund, and what amount are you looking to raise?

This should be an interesting thread.

I'm surprised you're not looking at investing in Emerging Markets.

But I assume since you're starting out, you'll want businesses that are relatively close to you.

I remember trying to read your blog, and from doing a quick google right now, there wasn't a great presence for Gold St Capital (surprised that still hasn't changed).

I'll continue to pop into this thread, cause if you're legit, this could be very interesting.

There will never be a big presence for Gold St it is a hedge fund no advertising allowed per SEC rules. Even the blog is pushing it and I deleted much content on it.

Just curious why that matters when you've got Ack going in on Herbalife and guys like Hempton publishing blog posts several times a month.

How much are you looking to raise?
What's your time frame for raising your initial capital?
What markets are you looking into?
What countries within those markets are you particularly interested in?

We are not really looking for retail type businesses unless it is something unique that could be patented and easily be franchised....

We are mainly interested in acquiring/developing distinguishable IP, there is no defined sector that we will only consider....For example I have owned and operated a group of hotels in the NYC/NJ region, I have exited that field and now am in the sneaker industry, having successfully brought one historical basketball shoe brand back to the market last year, and am in talks to acquire other brands as well. I also own the trademark of a popular team licensee apparel company from the late 80s/early 90s that was famous for its graphic jackets. So obviously because I grew up a huge shoehead since the 80s, that makes it easy to be in that field, but I am looking at deals in the snack food and candy industry as well, so I am a guy that is interested in all types of businesses and wants to be able to establish a successful operation strategy and then scale it.

Gold ST has a different background then I do in terms of that his day job is running his Hedge Fund, but we feel that pooling our knowledge, resources and money can create a wealth of opportunities. In the past few weeks we have looked at deals involving everything from buying Music Publishing catalogs to commercial real estate to a watch company.

We are mostly looking for businesses that are already off the ground and out of the idea stage, but that still need funding and assistance to get to the next level of being a mid range company......Not really looking for seed deals unless it is really unique......

To get off the ground we are using both of our investments, but we are going to begin raising money soon to "grow the pot" as well

Before I hop in this meeting let me reply. Sorry if its choppy

You are reading Ack comments via a publication they are not coming from per say his blog they are coming from news sources. He has the right to give an opinion but does not have the right to advertise his fund

I am not familiar with the Hampton blog but it most likely gives new and general info and does not advertise the fund

I'm not sure about how I could help ya'll in the venture capital biz, but if you need a CPA or need somebody to do audits/compliance stuff, let me know.

Interesting. I come from a multimedia/IT background.. been apart of a few CDN companies. Now a day trader, might have some people to put y'all in touch with.. will keep my ears open.

Wizards,

Lets talk more in depth. Shoot me an email at lovet@goldstcapital.com when you feel you can speak on some references. How are you liking day trading?

I am 28 and I have been in finance 5 years. i owned business all my life. I have held jobs but not to significant levels while working for others. BigLesco I believe is 31, his experience is very extensive I would estimate 7 years+ and he has a degree in accounting.

Are you going for a legit VC firm or more of angel investors?

A legit firm. we want to truly expand businesses and turn them into brands. We have the network and resources, however we are looking for the right business owner with an expandable idea.
