Venture capital thread: Starting a new VC firm

My brother and I started a weave and hair care business. Obbi International. http://www.obbintl.com/ 100% virgin hair and hair weave accessories. We first open our market in South Africa and we are doing better than expected. However, we are wanting to expand in the southern eastern coast of the U.S. We are looking for several investors;angel investors and ventures.

I would love to provide our vision, numbers, goals, etc. What will you need from us?

GSC thanks for dropping knowledge brotha. I'm currently in pursuit of my ba in finance and I have a lot of take aways from things you have said and presented us with. If you don't mind I would like to speak to you on a more personal level as I hope to some day deal with what you seem to deal with on a daily basis. I'll pm you my man!
 
Bumping this, very interested in threads like this. I'm at a standstill right now in life in general. I'm 24 and looking for a way to really thoroughly learn A lot more about business ventures and creating/ sustaining a brand.
 
Im 21 majoring in Finance & Real Estate Investments expected graduation Spring 2014.
What should I be doing now to get my feet wet?
Im looking to invest in the market & want various rental properties.
 
Depends what you exactly want to do with yourself. Elaborate on that and I can answer it for you.

I wish man, these streets are not paved in gold like the media paints it. But there are definitely a tremendous amount of opportunity for those looking for the right venture.

What ***** up alot of americas out here is not understanding the laws here (which benefit the locals of course) and working with the wrong people. Alot of fraud and scams go on in Dubai you have to really careful.

Appreciate it. Funny story I met Busta Rhymes when he came to Dubai. Dude had a show at some RANDOM club and he was out and about in the city.

Funny thing is out here a celebrity (not talking about super famous like Kanye or JT ) can mob around without people tripping. I've seen alot of pro athletes out and about.

Btw Im located in TX and our housing market is actually quite decent and is steadily improving. Im looking to own some rental houses and flip a few houses. I also want to get into stocks and get a lot of knowledge about the finance industry. Where should I begin, what are some good jobs to look for?
 
Just for future perspectives - venture and real estate couldn't be further from eachother as an asset class.
 
Your question on jobs are too subjective. In regards to investing in stocks. You will learn alot by reading books and trading and probaility. My personal favorite, how to make money I stocks by William O'neal

As lazy J said real estate is far off from stocks. If you want rental property find out how to leverage money borrowed in your name or get into a small REIT or maybe start your own.
