The HISTORY[emoji]174[/emoji] original series Vikings transports us to the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore—and raid—the distant shores across the ocean. His ambition puts him at odds with local chieftain Earl Haraldson (Gabriel Byrne), who insists on sending his raiders to the impoverished east rather than the uncharted west. When Ragnar teams up with his boat builder friend Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) to craft a new generation of intrepid ships capable of conquering the rough northern seas, the stage is set for conflict.

But for all its warfare and bloodshed, Vikings is also a story of family and brotherhood, capturing the love and affection between Ragnar and his wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), a respected warrior in her own right. It is the tale of Ragnar’s brother Rollo (Clive Standen), a fierce fighter who simmers with jealously; of Earl Haraldson’s wife Siggy (Jessalyn Gilsig), a dutiful beauty who may be less than loyal; and of the monk Athelstan (George Blagden), whose Christian morals clash with the Vikings’ pagan society. As ambition and innovation rattle a civilization, these characters will be put to the test—and their way of life will never be the same again.

Vikings was created and written by Michael Hirst (Elizabeth, The Tudors).

Been seeing commercials like crazy for this.

I'll check it out tonight.

Not sure if I like this show, not enough sex and violence. Spartacus ruined historical dramas for me. :smh:

Completely forgot about this. :smh: Couple of weeks passed, worth it to invest time? Too generic?

This is a good show..I like how they really move the story along with each new episode..There really isn't any part of any episode where they wasted time and you felt like it was boring..It's definitely worth watching..Strong characters and good actors to play them..Recommended..

thanks for the input! Will try to watch all on one day or something since there is only 9 episodes.

Surprised more people on here aren't watching this show. So far it has been pretty good. All the characters have been great and I definitely like how they are moving the show forward each episode.

Yeah...expected to see more posts in here...Following thread is 14 pages deep. People are watching though...picked up for a second season. Good show.

Ragnar reminds me of Jax from Sons of Anarchy

First thing I thought when I saw him. They look like brothers.

.

 yea I am not sure why that Following thread is so big, I have given up on that show, it is terrible. I think this show is just a bit unknown because it isn't on a network known for putting out good series shows. Glad to hear it is picked up for a 2nd season, about to watch tonights episode.

On Episode 3 so far.

Earl is a scumbag>:

Lagertha=my ideal girl :smokin :smokin :smokin

I didn't even know this thread existed. I would've been posting in it after every ep. Great show. Makes perfect sense for a 2nd season. Been talking it up a bit in another thread but it wasn't catching on with most ppl to generate any serious discussion.

Last ep was great, what they can't do in sex scenes they make up for in great action.

Didn't expect what happened to Lagertha to happen :smh: I'm wondering if Siggy had anything to do with it. Thought it'd all be roses for Ragnar for the rest of the season with the only challenges being the different armies from each kingdom in England. Makes it hard given he'll have to watch his back with Rollo around plotting.
They got some bootleg Robert Baratheon as their king
I thought I was the only one that noticed that  I was like did this dude Robert die in GoT and immediately get a job as a king in this?

This recent ep was a trip

Thought the Preist was gonna get some steady yambs :smh: Messed up how Ragnar knew he was throwing dude to the wolves. Crazy how nonsensical religion strikes again.

My boy from Grounded For Life playing King Horik :pimp:
