To me they do.

All black upper, blue jump man. Sure the blue is off, but it's still blue.

One guy had a point about SJs and Breds resembling each other better, but that doesn't change the fact that these are in that echelon. But his point further strengthens mine, I think: the color blocking on them is nearly the same with the exception of the midsole. That's fine.

So why the complaints? Do we just want nothing but the same freaking shoe, but different color accents (for example, imagine Bred but orange where there is red)?  I'm just not seeing the logic behind these rants... we can have an all white 11 (columbias) with a blue jump man, but not an all black one?

Different midsole, different outsole, and/or more creative color assembly would have been nice.

New and fresh are fine; lacking creativity is insulting and assumes that people will buy whatever, whenever, wherever.

But JB is emboldened by people buying anything that once sported a roman numeral and a jumpman.

And your comparisons to Space Jams work to your disadvantage. Why would JB release a shoe, that tangentially  resembles a classic, 3 years after it was last released? Why not just darken the jumpman, lighten the outsole, remove the yellow ribbon, and call it was it is?

And if not, and the objective is to freshen the silhouette, why not broaden the color palate and get tastefully creative with the colors, patterns, and hues?

Cause where it stands now, JB is half-assing it. But how many of us give them a reason to care?

You have great points.

I'm not even necessarily saying I like this kick. I'm saying everyone has summarily panned the shoe when it  does in fact (in your words) casually resemble a classic.

I think it does too...but only tangentially.

You have to acknowledge, though, the value of Mike wearing the Space Jams.

Which was gonna be my next point

Mike wearing these would have shut all the naysayers down in here. Including me. ( I don't like the blue on these or the SJs, but that's because I preferred the SJs to have a white/silver JM).

You have the right to your opinion, even if it's wrong!

And you summed up my complaint pretty well. I'd take a SJ with a different color accents but then it wouldn't be a SJ anymore would it? All white and all black just don't work on J's imo, even if it's wrong.

Wack....I'm actually glad though, I don't have to worry about what's always the years craziest release and I get to save some loot.

This seems to be a love/hate release, lol. Let me be the first to say...These are tough!!! Copped for sure on the release date!!!

I'll try to get a pair but I think I'll just try on NDC. Don't see myself waiting hours in line for them.

Last few pages have been so reckless!

On the borderline of getting the thread locked.

Anyways, JB definitely dropped the ball with these.

I was never really of a fan of the 11, but they solidified my pass on these with this ferocious color way.

:x

I know there will be folks who like these, which is cool, I just can't see myself wearing these.

The beasts can rest easy, you have another one who's passing.

Funny how dudes talk about the bastardization of the XI

That's what I was thinking when they made low and snake skin XI's, and that's one reason I never liked them

That's the reason I never bought any lows too.

All this bickering in the last few pages. The fact of the matter is, these "QS" mids will sell out. There will be camping involved. And JB knows that.

Low XI's were like low VIII's and VI's to me :smh:

Only IE's were acceptable

A lot of this is the era in which you're from. That's why in ten years crimson III's will be in demand by the next generation and they will clamor for them to retro. The same way many of you want laneys and mochas.

Leave the lows out of this. IMO if you're only going to touch the XI mids once every 3 years for a new CW, at least put some thought into it rather than some barf shades of colors that have no business being on a black XI. Sure, this isn't drastically different than the Space Jam, but why do we need another black colorway of these with this strange, minimal color combination? If you're going to add gold and Carolina blue, at least incorporate it throughout the shoe and not just in 3 spots (the 23, jumpman and tongue). No effort at all and a minimalist, mostly black CW benefits nothing from the addition of those colors in such small doses.

And for the comments about "well if Mike had worn these" :smh: Please, Jordan wore the well thought out (and few) colorways each year of each signature model. You may have seen him over the past few years wearing trunners or something, but he would not have sported a CW like this because his design team and he had more sensibility. He had two black colorways and two white colorways of the XI he wore. Why would he want one that looks like an ugly cousin of the BRed and SJ colorways? That's the whole point: we have classic OG colorways for the XI. If you're going to introduce something new - even if it's ugly - at least put some thought and uniquneness into it.

I'll pass out of principle more than anything else. This is just a cash grab with no root in history, no story to tell, nothing. It takes a huge dump on the legacy of the XI rather than celebrating it.
