I want to say that i am not an OG sneakerhead, i have been collecting for 3 years. Throughout the years, i have been contemplating why certain Air Jordan models are uncomfortable. I have purchased various shoes of the same model from different years to compare and contrast . It is believed that older shoes = better quality and comfort... yes, but does that mean newer shoes = bad quality and discomfort?

The problem is newer Air Jordans come with bad insoles, they are glued improperly and they are too thick with a very bad surface on top. I have swapped insoles from three Jordan shoes:

Air Jordan 1 Royal 2013

Air Jordan 3 Black Cement 2011

Air Jordan 4 "Bred" 2012

I swapped the original insoles with the thinnest leather insole and it makes the BIGGEST difference. The thin leather insole gives better support and breathability. I feel like i am actually wearing a quality pair of shoes just because i swapped the insole. My feet have enough room to move due to the thin layer of the insole and i feel comfortably on every stride i take. I don't have to constantly worry about selling my favorite shoe because its a newer release and quality is bad hence discomfort is inevitable.

You guys are thinking? what the f is this dude talking about?

Did you ever sell a pair of your favorite Air Jordans because they were uncomfortable? YES

Did you ever purchase an older Air Jordan because of the comfort level? YES

Did you buy an OG Air Jordan because of the quality or the comfort? BOTH

My point is insoles make a difference in the comfort level of shoe because the original insoles may or may not support the shape of your foot, thus running shoes have special insoles and many companies allow you try their product before you return it.

Before you sell your Air Jordans...try changing the insole to a thin leather insole and you will FEEL a difference unless you have structurally weird feet.

This isn't any secret. Before the days of Air Jordan's people have been swapping insoles for more comfort.

You can however shed light on which brands (Speco, Sholls, etc.) are better. Perhaps the differences, pros, cons, of each insoles, because they all have specific purposes for different feet.

I'd be interested to hear more about these thin leather insoles. I wear sneaker shields and wouldn't mind more room in some of my 4s and 11s.
