Halls Gap in Australia:

Prince Rupert, BC:

Halls Gap in Australia: Prince Rupert, BC: This small boat in the foreground, Kazu Maru, belonged to Japanese fisherman Kazukio Sakamoto. One morning in 1985 Sakamoto-san headed out for a day of fishing and was never heard from again. A year-and-a-half later Kazu Maru was found adrift off the Queen Charlotte Islands and was towed into Prince Rupert, British Columbia. Kazu Maru has since been lovingly restored and is displayed in this Shinto shrine in Mariner's Park as a reminder of those lost at sea.

In stark contrast to the small, handbuilt wooden Kazu Maru, just getting enveloped in the fog, is one of the first Norwegian Cruise Lines cruise ships to have stopped at the newly constructed (in 2004, when the photograph was taken) Cruise Ship Terminal just adjacent to the park.

Bagan, Myanmar, the place in the other pic, is even more breathtaking (though pictures don't quite capture it). It is a semi-arid plain about the size of Manhattan, littered all over with about 4000 temples of the kind I am standing on. You can ride through them for hours without running into anyone.

"The Minister’s Treehouse was built by a preacher named Horace Burgess who claims to have been inspired by god. He has been building it for over 20 years in a Noah-like fashion. The house is braced by six trees, is ten floors and is nearly 100 feet tall. The inside is a Escher like maze full of secret runs and tunnels."

Tess Jakubec is an artist and student currently attending the UBC (University of British Columbia) in Vancouver, Canada. In the series below, Tess washes away dirt and grime from walls to create her street art landscapes. Similar to scrawling on a dirty car by simply wiping away dirt with your finger; Tess uses a combination of water, stencil, brushes and rags (and probably some kind of cleaning solution) to create what’s known as reverse graffiti.
