Planning to buy a 1999 Acura Integra GSR

i miss my integra

but like everyone has already said kill switch, aftermarket alarm with tilt sensor (for tow trucks) and steering column lock. Peoples car get stolen because they dont take the proper precautions to take care of their car. Layer your security and u should be fine. They are great cars let me know if you have any questions or some links on security stuff.

The sad thing is that you have to do all that for a 15 year old car. never owned an integra, but I did have a civic with a type r swap. Had a kill switch, alarm, and would even take the ECU out if felt I was parked in a bad spot. It's no fun when you're out at the movies or something wondering if you're car is gonna get jacked. Bought a z and never had to worry about it getting stolen (probably because I left it stock).

If you don't have a garage and 24 hour surveillance then I would look at another car.

If you do it OP jus prepared to be paranoid all the time. I still plan on getting another Milano red integra in the future, doin weight reduction and throwing a K20 in it

My first car was a 1994 integra LS 5speed

LOVED that car, great on gas and fun the drive.

It did get broken into once though, but I guess the LS model isn't worth taking plus I was in HS so nothing of value was in it.

Seems almost impossible to find a clean one these days, the'yre either wrecked or riced out

EDIT: found a pic of it! Stupid limo tint couldnt see **** at night

My car is going to be on the campus parking lot and my house most of the time. Rarely go out and stuff. So would just having a kill switch be enough security?

chill...

this is probably my only JDM whips i still kinda have a soft spot for..but like others said, if you aint got it parked in a safe place

then those cheap *** ricers wit no money will put a price on its head for parts ASAP.

Lol u stewin ninja. Would never sink one penny of my hard earned cash into that. I'm aware your a car head but still. Dude needs to find Honda civic with less miles and call it a day.

Does your house have a garage? If it'll be parked outside, then nope.

da thing is with older hondas, da mileage rule of thumb can basically be thrown out because these cars can be taken apart

and remade brand new with very little effort, you can rebuild a vtech engine for a measly couple hundred bucks and have it purring like

it just came out da factory, parts are dirt cheap, and da aftermarket is HUGEEEEEE...plus they're dependable, thats why so still see

so many of these integras on da road today. civics and integras are like air force I's, abunandant, cheap, all purpose, and you

can dress em up and down as you like. da main problem like everyone has stated is that because they're so abundant and popular

if you got some nice stuff on your car, it basically can be taken off with ease with thieves because da demand for parts is a profitable endeavor.

damn, I remember this being the most stolen car in the 90s... I assumed thieves focused on modern cars.

acura legend > acura integra > acura vigor

I still remember my brother calling me after his was stolen a few years back. He kept it in his condo garage and obviously knew the risks, but you still don't think it'll happen. It was gated but that's hardly going to stop someone. He was devastated. The car getting stolen was bad enough since he bought it from an older woman who never abused it, but he had his entire CD collection in there (he had been buying CDs for about 20 years) and a couple other personal belongings.

He got an insurance check, but he was never going to find another in that price range. Felt so bad for him.

That car is really rare now, you're going to have a lot of eyes watching it. Those cars are so much fun, great gas mileage and awesome acceleration.

why not look for a prelude? a fast, comfortable, sleek honda that isn't on the top 10 most stolen. But you might regret on passing on such a rare car, i know i would lol

they're still stealing this in 2013?

My friend got his Sentra broken into like half a year ago. He sprained his ankle in a pick up game and was on crutches for a while. He parked his car nearr his house and left it there for a while cause he couldn't drive. I guess the people from his neighborhood saw the car sitting in the same spot and thought the owner must've been on vacation or something.

Being on campus, people love to window shop. Those cars stand out so much. More so when the owners popping Vtec in the parking lot. That's just asking for it. I had a 99 Civic Si and I tried to take every security measure possible. Good alarm, kill switch, detachable steering wheel, clutch lock. Like it was mentioned though, if someone is determined to take the car, they will. I know the security features I had can be worked around, but that means more time for them to try and take it. Good luck to you if you do get it.
