THE OFFICIAL NIKE GOLF THREAD VOL "WINNING FIXES EVERYTHING."

Generally, how light are Nike golf cleats compared to other brands?  I have a pair of adidas tour 360 (the $220 from 6 years ago) and they're great but they came out right before the lighter/hybrid cleats were released and are on the heavier side.

I realized that all of these shoes (nike, adidas, etc.) have roughly the same cleat bottom that is likely heavy, so maybe they are all roughly the same if they have actual cleats v. hybrid shoes.
Every brand has a comparable light wt shoe. Ive owned Footjoy, Adidas, Truelink and Nike.

I currently play in TW'14, there are outlets that sometimes have them for 50-$60 now. I tried on the TW15 and its pretty light feels like KBX very comfortable shoe.

If your truly after a light wt shoe you should try a non-replaceable cleat shoe with a mesh upper.

Yeah it seems the heavier shoes have the full cleat and leather upper.  Thanks dude.

I wear the TW'14, the non-cleated version and can vouch for them. Super comfy, breathable, and lightweight. Get complimented from strangers on the course all the time and I love the speckled Jordan hints. My only complaints about the sneakers is that they tend to get dirty (which is expected) and avoid wearing them in rainy/wet conditions.

Also, I own a pair of FJ DNAs for the rainy/cold or more conservative look and those are the truth!
I used to love G30...an then I tried a 915. Difference is off the wall.

I have the same pair of TW '14's and I am asked all the time what they are when I wear them on the course. They are extremely comfortable and I love the styling. The neon accents, the FlyKnit, and the speckled midsole...Nike did a great job with this release. I agree that they get dirty easily, but nothing a little soap and water can't fix.

The only other golf shoe I've wanted in the past few years were these. I just love the way they look.

Anyone play with the new Vapor Pro Driver or any other Vapor line drivers?

I've been playing Nike Dymo Str8-Fit Driver 8.5 for about 5 yrs been looking for new driver

I've been playing the Flex and Vapor Speed this year. You're in for a treat. The customization with FlexLoft compared to Str8-Fit is night and day.

If you like the Dymo you will probably like the Pro head, but the Speed is so forgiving.

I demo'd the Pro and was sold, Ill probably pick it up right before golf season starts here NY.

I honestly never mess with the settings I just keep it all neutral. My Dymo was/is 8.5 degree and found the 9.5 setting to yield similar results, so Im hoping they go on sale.

What 3 wood do you play? Im looking on upgrading my Tour Edge  Exotic CB2

I have the TEE CB Pro. Tour Edge makes the best fairways period. The new ones are out so you can get a great deal on the first gen CB pro.

Anybody game the Engage wedges? I upgraded my irons a couple weeks ago (Mizuno MP-5 :pimp:) and the gapping on my current wedges is all screwed up now. Really like what I'm seeing regarding the Engages so I'm thinking of grabbing a set. I like to use a three wedge setup (four if we count the PW).

My PW is 46* so I'm looking to either go 50/56/60 or 52/56/60. Maybe even go 50 or 52 bent to 51. For the soles I'm thinking Square Sole gap wedge; Toe Sweep sand wedge; Dual Sole lob wedge.

Unfortunately there aren't any stores in my area that have them available to hit so my "research" is the only way I'll get a feel for them. I really like that they're un-finished and will rust to give the ball a little extra bite. The sole options seem great too. I'm wondering if the rust factor will in any way decrease the life of them though.

Anyone have any opinions?

Interesting. I use to play Cleveland wedges but then switched to Taylormade for the square sole. I prefer it even though its probably mental but it " feels" better when Im addressing the ball. I feel like my cleveland 56 with a traditional sole is better in the sand but marginally different.

Im not sure your handicap but I wouldnt worry about bending your clubs. I have 48/52/56/60 wedges and they work just fine. When buying wedges I always ask myself what yardage do I find myself at more often and what yardage would I ideally like to be hitting a full shot from. That will determine loft for me.

Ive never played Nike irons or wedges but I think the drivers are some of the best on the market.

Do you know Nikes return policy on golf clubs I know clothes, shoes etc you can try for 30 days and return.... maybe its the same for golf clubs

I hear you on the square sole looking better at address. That's why I went with it on the 52* because it's essentially an extension of my irons and I'm primarily gonna be playing full shots with it. I can always de-loft my PW if I need to hit a shot that isn't covered by it or the 52*.

I went with the Dual Sole on the 60* because it allows you to square it up or open the face at address without changing the bounce too dramatically. I've only actually put this into action on my carpet at home , but it seems like it's gonna be awesome for both full shots and shorter flop shots. I'm a little inconsistent with opening the face on my Mizzy MP-T4 60* so I'm hoping that's the case.

Word on the street (or internet) is that the Toe Sweep sole is like cheating when hitting shots out of the sand, but for alot of people it's just a one-shot-wonder and doesn't really perform for full shots off of tight lies. I tend to lay up often leaving me with around 80-100 yards so I need my sand wedge to be able to work out of tight lies. I do tend to struggle coming out of the sand though so the Toe Sweep would definitely help me out in that aspect. I'm gonna play around with both of these wedges and see how they perform in sand before deciding on what sole grind to get for my 56*.

This will be my first time using Nike Wedges. I've almost always used Mizuno wedges (I'm a Mizuno Stan ). I actually don't use a driver, I'm too inconsistent with them. I have gamed the Covert 2.0 3W in the normal and Tour version in the past though and loved them. Currently gaming a Tour Edge Exotics E8 Beta 3W and it's amazing.

Unfortunately Nike's return policy is 90 days unused :smh:. So hopefully these wedges perform for me .

Agreed. Definitely wish there were more choices for traditional look, but modern materials.
Both the Lunar line and TW have veered way into the sneaker style, which is nice sometimes, especially in shorts. But I feel like it looks silly when Im wearing pants in the Fall season. I gots to keep it classy

Any tips for new golfers?
youtube fam. follow golf channels like Mark Crossfield and MeandMyGolf. these guys will give you tips and some of the basics of a swing. Its your job to practice and find your own swing while applying their tips.

Most people will say get some lessons right off the bat, but i feel like finding your own swing is more important. Once you familiarize yourself with your own swing, then get some lessons.

Yep what he said. I wouldn't even look up any "in-depth" or more technical aspects of the golf swing at first. Just watch some basic videos and go out and play a few rounds on your own and then apply some more tips little by little. Don't watch 10 videos with swing tips and then try to apply them all at once . When you find that you're pretty comfortable with your swing then that would be a good time to look into getting some lessons to fine tune it. Spending an hour or so at the driving range after work a few times a week will also help immensely.

Also if there are any par 3 courses in your area those are great places to start. They'll be alot cheaper and more laid back than a normal golf course, and will really get you comfortable with using your irons.

As far as clubs go, when starting out you don't need brand new top of the line stuff. Check Craigslist, eBay, 2ndswing.com, globalgolf.com, or any other site where you can buy a used set of irons and woods/driver. Also check any second-hand sports shops in your area. You should be able to find a nice set of irons for no more than 400 bucks (or even much cheaper than that honestly).

Quick forewarning, when you first start out you'll most likely SUCK . Don't let it discourage you though. Stick with it and I'm sure you'll come to love it.

What sports have you played previously?

The best tip is dont over think it. The reality is you wont be good at it for awhile depending on how much you practice/play.

I think finding a driving range and get to know the person who runs it is high on the to-do list. Most offer free advice and sometimes free range balls

I wouldnt buy new clubs and invest to much into golf gear until you determine its for you. Ive seen too many people start playing only to stop after they get frustrated.

As far as watching videos I found woman golfers to have the best golf swings and slower than men so you can watch them in real-time or slow-motion

It's a hard game, stay patient. Practice as much as you can. 70% short game 30% long game.

Keep things simple as much as you can, the basics are important so don't worry about fancy technical swing advice.

Let things come to you on the course, don't try to force anything or stress about having a bad hole here and there.
