"Dodgers President Stan Kasten acknowledged that he has told fans he expects DirecTV to hold out all season"

Terrible

they should've handled all this before the season even started. We're getting screwed so much because of this.
Unfortunately this is still a Laker town. If this happened with them there'd be riots outside Staples.

I guess DirecTV doesnt think it's worth the money with the ratings the games get. TWC need to face reality that this is a distant 3rd most popular sport in the US. Fans shouldnt suffer because they vastly overpaid for a TV deal.

If SVS was a full-time player, how many HRs do you think he could hit?
20-27 hrs a year. think of him like trumbo but with better patience at the plate

Is it safe to say Kemp is damaged goods or give him more time?

Below the Mendoza line right now...

give him more time.

still early in the season. dudes an A-gonz vs d-backs series away from bumping that avg up.

way more concerned with the k -rate though. he's still manning the outfield pretty good ( that running catch towards RF). he's got 2 stolen bases, and thats a real good sign. while im not sure if he'll get to 40, stealing at least 20-25 would be great. Donny said from the get, that they'd ease him in but once he gets a bit more consistent and maintains the health he'll be in there everyday.

:smh:, It's all about money. I've already mentally checked out of watching the boys in blue on tv. Radio, box scores, blogs or live is the only way. One of my boys was happy as a clam that the game was on Fox 1 Saturday, saying we have to watch it, cause it's available to everyone.. As long as Vin is on the radio, I'm good.

, bro you can't be serious.

SVS isn't that good, he has pop and that makes him valuable. He will not make a good everyday ballplayer. Dodgers DFA'd him and no one claimed him. He can make himself a very valuable bench player with his skill set, but wouldn't be a great every day ballplayer, probably below average. If SVS he would probably give you 10-15 HR's with a batting average around .225-.240 and a ton of headaches. Don't fool yourself into believing he has more value than that. The running joke on most blogs is that if the Dodgers find a taker for Ethier/Crawford, they will still have a 4th OF'er problem, why? Not because of SVS, because of Joc Pederson.

You have to give Kemp more time, still feel he rushed, should've waited until late April-May.

dude is an avg outfielder with big pop. mark trumbo was a converted 1st basement so SVS is already better than him defensively. a player of their skillset, its not hard to hit at least 25 HR's...think Mike Morse, corey hart, carlos quentin.

20-25 HRs and a 250 avg...a lot of teams will take that, especially on a team friendly deal. Recently heard on a podcast that guy like SVS would def be starting on  teams like Houston, NY mets, florida marlins

, I should stop seeing as you are putting SVS in the same category as Morse, Hart and Quentin. As if Colletti is stuffing SVS as a fifth outfielder and Don Mattingly are storing him as some secret weapon that they will unleash on the baseball world in the near future.

Frankly, he is not that good. He can make himself into a valuable bench piece, that's his ceiling. He's a 4A player, too good for triple A, not quite good for the bigs. That BA, was very generous, since I don't think SVS has the plate discipline to stay above .225, with that I don't think he has enough pop to justify keeping a player that can't hit above or is hovering around the Mendoza line in the lineup, like Mark Reynolds and Adam Dunn. He is nowhere close to Mark Trumbo, offensively or defensively, and that says a lot because Trumbo isn't good defensively. There is a reason that in the same time frame, SVS has only logged 500 innings defensively as opposed to Trumbo's 2800+.

Bottom line, SVS isn't that good, other teams didn't take him because there are tons of players just like him on the waiver wire. He's too old to have any upside, best case scenario is he makes himself valuable off the bench.

morse is 32, and had a breakthrough career 2-3 years ago with the Nats. svs is 28, same could happen to him. he has a career avg of 295 in the minors which could translate to an ok avg in the majors. over his career he's had 11 HR's with 200 plate appearances in the majors. with consistent playing time he could hit at least 20.

agree to disagree though

catch me the Chavez Ravine tonight, pavilion sec 307

They jacked up ticket prices too much. People only going to games when there are giveaways. So should be a good crowd today and thurs.

Stubhub, morning of the game is still your best bet. Ticket prices are ridiculous, now, :wow:

Not biting on SVS,. He'll spell Gonzales and be the fourth OF'er when one of the OF'ers is injured. Don't see him getting many PA's, so if he is going to have this breakout year you speak of, it won't be in a Dodger uniform and even then, whatever team gets this diamond in the rough, will get him as a steal since he has zero to no value to all the other 29 teams. No one is knocking on Colletti's door to take SVS off his hands.

Yea. Payed almost $100ea for some decent seats on thursday. I really wanted that Kershaw bobblehead though...

Will check Thurs morning if it wouldve been cheaper.

on point with the playing time here in LA. what i meant is he could put numbers if he did get the playing time on a different team. not as much as a roster like this considering the talent in front of him.  he wont put up all star #'s but given playing time, i think he'd produce

Very top heavy lineup tonight with Dre sandwiched in the 2....I guess it was imperative to give gonzo a day off.

Hamels picking up from the 09 NLCS huh..
HanRam needs to get going, man.

So Bills career probably over now with another setback?

And Kershaw back by early May? Sick of Malholm

Man...anything. even if its as a chip...that we get from billz is gravy..once kersh comes back, that changes the rotation..literally..

Kersh
Zack
Ryu
Haren

Maholm/beckett/billz or even designate one for mop up duty.

So we dropped 3 of 4 at home to the phrikkin phils.

Is brian wilson really fully healed..thats the question...im not gonna say hes cooked. Yet.

Tomorrow, Beckett......im just waiting for a standard implosion. It better not be tomorrow. Gotta score moar runs, man....

Anyways....anyone score any kersh bobbleheads? Pics?

Wilson is shot. 2 tommy johns is just too hard to overcome. Howell or Perez should be our setup man from now on.
