AJ Ellis is a gift and a curse. Fan favorite, extremely likeable. However, below average both offensively and defensively. Would make an awesome backup, unfortunately he is our starter.

People don't give AJ enough credit, yeah he's not the best catcher talent/skill wise, but the dude is smart and he's a good figure to have around the ball club. He's like a Derek Fisher.

Ya the pitchers being comfortable with AJ has a lot to do with him being back there even if he's struggling. That pitcher/catcher dynamic is big and you really don't want to mess with that.
