Official 2018 Los Angeles Dodgers Thread : Game 4

Buddy of mine who coaches baseball claimed he talked to a cardinals scout and he claimed they have Kershaw picked when he's from the stretch. According to him, when he sets and brings his arms down, he sets wide when it's a curve, and he sets more closed when it's a fastball.

Wouldn't surprise me if its true based on the way they were on his pitches the other day once somebody got on base, but we'll see tomorrow

Interested to hear people's thoughts on this.

For the record, I was not able to catch the game.

Not many thoughts. He hung a curveball right over the heart of the plate with 2 guys on with a 2-0 lead and nobody out to a guy hitting .190 vs lefties and proly tipped the pitch in the process. 3 run jack. Ballgame.thanx for coming. Gonna be a long off season.

Oh yeah. Giants win. The nightmare continues.

I want Donny and Ned fired. SF going to the NLCS yet again makes me sick. When will it be our time? :smh:

Beckett announced retirement after the game.

Ned really thought dude would be ready for October

Really wish we wouldve got that #1 seed. We own them and there's no doubt in my mind we wouldve whooped them. I said 2 months ago I wanted nothing to do with the Cards. Theyre our daddy.

First time I am not disappointed. I'll elaborate tomorrow. However not seeing the team play much made me see this team with logic (metrics/stats) as opposed with emotion.

Bottom line, you need a good bullpen to win the whole damn thing and we all knew we didn't have one.

On top of that Donnie is not a good enough manager to deal with the flaws this team has. Wilson isn't off the books btw. Him and Haren have player options so I'm sure they will cash in. It is what it is folks. What happens when you have an awful GM. Could put lipstick (fat payroll) on a pig. Colletti sucks. He needs to go.

They make the NLCS and first thing they think of is the Dodgers  that's sad. I guess someone wants to impress big brother

It's not Mattingly's fault Kershaw loses his testicles to the Cards every year. It's not his fault Dee Gordon, and the majority of the team batted .160. It's not his fault Puig struck out 4744665 consecutive times. It's real easy to blame the coach, but it's not his fault.
Man, are you kidding? Yeah he might not be responsible for player performance but he managed it completely wrong. The way he handled bullpen duties? Not playing Justin Turner (who was arguably one of our best players in the regular season)? Did he really think starting Ethier was going to do anything? All of it was idiotic. **** DONNY.

i agree with all this.   pinch hitting for ryu in that situation last night was a typical dumb mattingly move imo.

regarding kershaw, if the bullpen wasn't as suspect as it is, i think on 3 days rest, kershaw would've been taken out for the 7th if there was reliable relievers other then jansen in the bullpen.

the crazy part is this about the past two playoff series against st louis,  aside from game 6 last year, every game in st louis was winnable but the bats went mia.  no matter how you cut it,  5 combined runs scored in 5 playoff games at busch stadium these past two postseasons is flat out unacceptable.  game 1, a 2-3 loss where they scored 2 in the 3rd and were shut out the next 10 innings,   game 2, a 1-0 loss where kershaw only gave up 2 hits and they lose 1-0,   obviously game 6 was the blowout and they take the big time L there,    this year, they had opportunities in game 3,  only gave up 3 runs and lose 3-1,    game 4, they get 6 good innings out of kershaw while squandering opportunities to score more then 2 runs in a game they ultimately lose 3-2.     i'm combining the past 2 seasons because it's crazy they haven't scored more then 2 runs in a playoff game at busch either year.

every one of those games aside from game 6 was winnable, but once the cardinals took a lead, even if it was a 1 run lead, it seemed more like a 5 run lead the way the bats couldn't step up.

hopefully mattingly and colleti are both gone though.

At least the kings can hold us down

Major changes needed, hopefully ownership gets it done.

See y'all next year :smh:

Wilson exercised his player option already.

Of course he would. Nobody was giving him 9.5 mil in the open market.

Thanks Ned...

That's why he was supposed to put Turner in. He provided an offensive spark for us all season, coming through with crucial hits in times where our other bats went quiet. I don't get it man.
