HANNIBAL NBC | S3, Ep13 "The Wrath of the Lamb" 8/29/15 10/9c

Less than a week away.

Grimm and Hannibal back to back.

I remember thinking they would just move on from Will. I like that he's back and somewhat center, focused and not going mad anymore.

Still not feeling this new time slot.

Why does this show look so damn dark? You can't see a damn thing with the lights off.

Well damn at that opening scene.

I brushed it off as nothing more than a dream sequence, then the "12 weeks earlier" caption popped up.

I like that they didn't drag out the "will anyone else find out what Hannibal really is?" storyline like I expected they would for most of this season. We know Jack finds out, now we can sit back and enjoy how he uncovers the truth

I'm pissed that NBC included that fight in the Season 2 trailer though.  That's one reason I was so dismissive of that scene. I figured it was an okey doke scene meant to grab your attention like a lot of shows like to do in their trailers, but nope a big *** spoiler.

That fight was brutal too.  Hannibal played possum and hit Jack with an apparent fatality.

This show does not skimp on the brutal violence and gore.

What a start to the season!

Cannot wait to see how the story unfolds. Really intrigued with the whole Gillian Anderson plot as well.

Opening was wicked !! Hannibal always has some crazy battles , dude is tough , can't wait to see more

I knew the fight couldn't be a dream simply cuz who would dream it? Makes no sense to have that be a fake out altercation where dude is clearly shown bleeding out at the end of it.

Well, damn. :wow:

That's how you start a season. This has to be the most visually stunning show on tv outside of Game of Thrones. Just...the images they paint in front of you. Without fail, there's a few shots every episode that stick with you. And there ain't a weak link in the whole damn cast.

That body pit. :x

Between this, The Americans and True Detective....mannnnn. :smh:

Hannibal has the edge visually. Not to mention it's a network show. They made him pouring into that glass bowl look dope

Season off to a good start.

Had to watch online because it didn't record on my DVR :smh:

That ear feeding scene and body pit :x

Yeah, I felt lost and disgusted when I saw those black and white memory flashbacks with Hannibal doing that to Will. I was like this is what was happening during their therapy sessions?!!! :smh: :x

To think I believed Hannibal when he said he liked Will and wanted to be his friend?

or were those "memories" symbolism to tell Will what Hannibal does with his dead victims bodies since he's so good at getting in to a psychopaths head?

Hannibal does like Will & wants to be his friend, but he also needed to frame Will so he doesn't get caught. Hannibal is struggling a bit that he had to frame someone he wanted to like. Will was wary of him from jump but didn't trust his instincts. I think he let his somewhat trust in Jack Crawford who brought Hannibal in to let his guard down so Hannibal could brainwash him to throw him off Hannibal's trail.

I like this show. Love the cast. Mads is doing a great job, stellar really. The one criticism I have though is I think the network is showing more gore than it has to. It seems so unnecessary at times. :rolleyes

I knew he had to frame him but still just hearing the sound of that pipe/plastic tube go down his throat :x I'll probably have to play back the sequences of events but it didn't HAVE to go down this way. I kinda feel things did escalate quickly. One of the few shows I'm not completely sure on predicting possible trajectories.

I may have to re-watch S1 eventually cuz I wasn't too high on this show as the season went on. When it came out I think I was just too overwhelmed with all the psychopaths and bad guys on tv and movies, many being just as interesting initially.

Hannibal had this rich dourness about it though. It's a rare exception given I know how good it was/is but just wasn't connecting with it fully. The visuals were great, the tone/atmosphere established fits it well, love the soundtrack, it's shot exceptionally well especially for network tv but along the way it just wasn't keeping my attention as much as other things I was watching. It's definitely reestablishing itself now though.

The biggest problem with season 1 was that you could never tell if it was really going anywhere, or whether it was just fine sitting back staring at ****** up people. Until the end, when you realize all these little tangents were dominoes being placed out of order, til Hannibal was ready to knock them all down. It reminded me of the way House of Cards season 1 was setup.

I gotta say...Mads is Hannibal. He made Silence of the Lambs tricky to watch for me. Anthony Hopkins' Lecter looks like a cartoon character next to him.

Now that's how you start a season. can't wait till the next episode.

the gore on this show, I can deal with. Just think how much more gore they'd show if this was on HBO

I haven't watched season 1. Should I to get what's going on. I also want to know if hannibal corrupted wills mind and how.
Go watch S1 first.

Anyway, good start to the new season.  Love the visuals and surreal-feel to it all... just nothing like it on network TV.  Still surprises me how they're able to get it past the censors, not that I mind the gore.
And I guess it's not really a "spoiler", but............................... Jack Crawford should still survive after the fight, given how he appears in Silence of the Lambs.  As there are 13 episodes this season, "12 weeks earlier" could mean that fight takes place at the end of the season? Assuming that's the route they take.

Gillian Anderson with the "I believe you..." in the previews...  Where will that lead to???

Naw, I don't agree.

I think it was always set up for longevity and depth. Where as people normally want a resolution after 50 mins, two hours or 13 episodes.

His beginnings aren't a neat package like that.

What...aren't you agreeing with?

I'm talking about what turned some people off from the show after a few episodes. A lot of people, like Zik, put it on the backburner or dropped it outright early on. The first half of the season was exactly that kinda resolution after 50 mins show. Serial killer shows up, Hannibal does sly stuff, Will solves it, beautiful shots, rinse, repeat. People tuned out, because it felt like serial killer show #20, with better lighting, and since it was network, who expects cable quality?

+ I think that episode they half-cancelled cuz of Newtown didn't help.

But it wasn't until later down the line (about when his therapist showed up) that the whole picture started coming together. And you realized all these cases of the week were parts to a whole. And then people had more to say about Hannibal than just 'gorgeous visuals, cryptic, really ****** up for network tv.'

I just wish it was on Netflix, so more people could see what they're missing.

Amazing start to Season 2. Always cracks me up how Hannibal makes all these exotic dishes of human meat that his guests love so much
