If You Are Looking for/Interested In Working With The Federal Government...Come In. Positions Availa

I've been a federal employee for the Department of Defense doing Acquisition/Procurement as a Contract Specialist. I switched over to become a contractor about a year and a half ago...and I took all of my federal knowledge and skills with me. I am now a Program Manager working with some of the same Government Agencies I used to work for (DLA, WHS, etc).

I have been winning quite a few Proposals/Task Orders/Awards lately and will be posting positions that I need to fill/backfill etc.

So far the primary places of performance are: DC North Capital Region, Northern VA, Maryland, Philadelphia, Columbus, OH, and Battlecreek, MI.

Some of the agencies I have work with are: DLA, WHS, DMDC, FDA, Department of Education, OCC, amongst others.

I'll post requirements to see if any folks on here are interested and qualified. Feel free to refer resumes and submit yourself.

The first requirement is:

Place of Performance: Battle Creek, MI

Agency: DLA DLIS

Position: PCOLS Help Desk Tier II

These positions are more data entry and correspondence than actual IA/IT Help Desk support.

Must be able to obtain/maintain an IT-II clearance.

Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 (equates to $65,000 or so in the DC Metro area).

PM or email me.

Thanks

I might apply. I'm from the Battle Creek area and right now I do help desk work but in a different state. Battle Creek is a very very small town and boring

Man this is a great thread and one of the nicest things I've ever seen.

The cost of living in battle Creek is dirt cheap too, seen some really nice apartments for sub $500 a month when I was out there with Kelloggs for an interview

Appreciate the kind words Antidope. You are a good dude man.

It really is! One of the folks on my team out there just moved from a luxury two bedroom apartment to a house. She was paying $700 for the apartment. $700 doesn't even get you a room in DC. Another guy was buying land out there at $3,000 an acre! 1/3 of an acre of land in Vienna will cost you $500,000 or so! :wow:

Yeah man you either work for Kellogs or at the Hart-Dole Inouye Federal Center in Battle Creek. The whole 4 city blocks of "downtown."

I liked it though and the people were great. It was cold as I don't know what though.

My man holding down the community...Mr. ODU/VCU himself!

Ha....I've been spotted! Yeah man, I try to give back to my community. Whether it was free Wizards tickets or shoes.....wherever I've worked I've always tried to hold it down!

I'm trying to come out that way and see you though man!

We have a project in Riverside that I was working on too. The other PM had first pick, so you know he picked Cali before the ink dried on the contract. Ha.

Good looking on putting people on :pimp:

Only if I had a clean background

Yeah man, we chatted in the other thread about expungements and such. If you remember what happened to me a few years back man, anything is possible. I've tried to help people clean up their records and straighten that out as well.....because I know what that process is like.

im in the dc area and i have been trying to get a government internship. do you have any tips on what i should be doing to better my chances? any help would be appreciated

DLA Intern Program, DCMA Keystone Program, GSA has a good one. I am not going to lie to you. I was one of 2 out of 900 folks that applied back in 2009 that was selected for the DLA Intern Program. The other "selectees" all had family working at DLA or had prior DLA experience. The Federal Sector is a game of who you know and networking most of the times. Veterans get a crucial preference and a lot of vacancies on USA Jobs are just a formality in the "hiring process" to show/justify that the position was competed for before a candidate was selected.

If you have Superior Academic Achievement and the 24 Business Credits you should be on the right path. Email me or PM me.

hey, did you ever make the move to the bay area? :nerd:

I appreciate all of your assistance and providing the insight on the area man. I couldn't switch it up for such a specialized position (Cost/Price Analyst). I do that now, but I couldn't imagine doing that solely. The ceiling on that isn't very high and I think I would have allowed my impatience with the area to cap my potential.

I still have my eye on things out there. Definitely.

To all others inquiring about specific locations and such. I'll do my best to update this thread in a timely manner.

I have one story about getting a "friend" person I know a job last month. I got him a position at Ft. Belvoir making $70,000 right out of the Navy. He didn't even have to compete for it. I interviewed him and everything. This is why I presented him as a regular candidate found on NCMA or Dice. I pulled and pushed his resume to the top and I interviewed him like I didn't know him. I even could have gotten him $86K if his dumb *** would have just communicated with me and been responsive.

This dude didn't even show up the first day! The president wanted him gone at that very moment. Unbelievable. I stalled and plugged away for a month tryingto salvage his terrible perception, but eventually.....I can't help you if you aren't trying to help yourself.

I just had a "friend" get out of the Navy and I got him a position making $70,000.....this dude treated the position like a job at the mall and had no sense of professionalism (despite coming out of the Navy where he was managing programs).

1 strike and your out...Dude just got fired yesterday and I just saw him turning in his laptop and equipment today.

People are f****** stupid. This is why I don't feel sorry or pity for folks

Needless to say, I hope folks on here do not act as this individual did. I didn't want to be jaded or base all future dealings off this one person....but you never know.

Ha, my man. I will push for this next trip to Cali....or shoulders will be clapped in the HR department.

I just got up with Jairo in DC this past weekend before I left and I saw Dex for the first time in about 6 years or so in Crystal City. It was just like back at Rogers East man! The folks I met at ODU freshman year are some of the best people I've met in my life man.

Great thread.

If I was still in Kalamazoo, I'd most definitely be hitting you up.  Battle Creek suuuuuuuuucks though as far as anything outside of a paycheck.

I know FEMA has had an IMAT team stationed in NY since October to assist with responding to Sandy. My old girl's dad is a Contracting Officer for the Marines in NY (he lives in long island), but I think he works in Merrick or something.

I haven't seen a lot of in NY or LA just yet. It's best to see what Federal Agencies or Federal/Defense Contractors are located in your area and go from there. Once you understand how things work, half of the battle is finding out which jobs are coming down the pipeline and then positioning yourself in a successful spot to obtain them. A large portion of this is networking. When I worked part time at Cole Haan....I had GS-15 Contracting Officers trying to barter for my discount and such (which I just willingly gave away). Once they found out I was in their same field as well, they opened the flood gates to positions and escorted me through the building to get an interview in two weeks (something that would take 6 months to never usually). Point being....put yourself out there, you never know which person you meet next while waiting in line might be someone that could change your life.

If you have that typical smug NTer entitled attitude......good luck! You'll be stuck in a box like Ninjahood complaining about a thread about nothing on an internet message board.

Good looks Jesus. I will be checking here constantly. I'm looking to get out of Florida and find a new position by the end of this year.
