If You Are Looking for/Interested In Working With The Federal Government...Come In. Positions Availa

Why didn't nobody told me they had a Naval base in San Diego? And GS has a locality adjustment for the Cali c.o.l too? Once I get the b.m drama sorted out, trying to make that jump out there for a GS13 ~134K jobs since I am getting my MS from USD anyways

I feel yall on hating my coworkers. I never go to their little luncheons and stuff although I do understand office politics and how important that kind of stuff can be. The only time I went was the one that was during work hours because I felt obligated

There are a gang of Naval Bases in San Dawg. Even Marine Corp bases.

Lots of folks don't know thus bit if you want to go fed Houston is great. The locality rate is higher than DC but the cost of living is much lower. If you dont belive me look it up, come back and I will tell you why.

He is right. Post the GSA COLA Wage Adjustment Tables for Pay Locality. I took a job at FEMA in Santa Clara and that adjustment for pay locality was top 3 and DC area is money too. H-Town been a sleeper and not sure why. I dislike all Texas Sports teams except Mike Modano and the Dallas Stars from NHL Face Off 98.

If you want to visit first and check it out......let me know. I have a two bedroom condo turned art studio/lab that I'm never even at. I usually Air BnB it but you can use it for free or I can link and give you the "urban tour" of the D&V. I can't stand Maryland except for Run N Shoot/Baz n Crue back in the day and BMORE/Ocean City/Bethesda/Silver Spring/Cheseapeake/Annapolis. Damn, maybe I do like Maryland smh.
damn bro might take you up on that one.....

last time I checked the locality rate in Houston was 28% and DC was 24%. Houston may be higher than San Diego and LA.

Reason being is because as discussed in this thread, government pay is no where near what civilian agencies pay. In some cases the government has to step up and pay a little more to compete. Houston is a prime example. Houston was built on Oil/ gas and Cancer, both pay very very well. Texas is a oil producing state and it manufactures oil. Any giving day there miles of oil tankers in the gulf of mexico lined waiting to enter the Port Of Houston to offload millions of dollars in crude. Oil is so big, Shell, Exon and ect. are building massive skyscrapers in west Houston which will eventually be Houstons third downtown. You may ask why third, is there a second, that's where cancer comes in. Cancer treatment is so lucrative in Houston that they have built/ building Hospitals that are skyscrapers, 5 miles south of Downtown Houston.

What does this have to do with locality rates? Nothing at all if it were not for four letters, NASA, which also has a big presence just outside of Houston. NASA employs lots of people and they need engineers, oil/ gas also needs engineers. To compete with Shell and Exxon Houston has a high locality rate. In Houston an engineer can graduate and pull 100k first year out. NASA is even competing for secretaries. There are other government agencies in Houston but NASA is the main reason locality is so high. Austin is more expensive to live in Austin than Houston but iirc Austins locatity rate is 14%.

Yup Houston has the highest locality pay.
Houston,DC,NY,Cali,Boston are the top 5 i believe since the last time I checked.

Detroit (where I am at ) gets a good boost to its locality as well due to the auto industry...not mad at 24%

Such a shame 757 area gets no locality pay, they specifically make it clear in the DMV (Northern VA) locality lol. Probably would have took that AF PAQ position I was supposed to start after graduation.

Tell you? California is surrounded by water lol

But yes, San Diego (Whale's Vagina Base as Navy folks called it) is awesome. I was transferring out to SPAWAR near Old Towne SD and it was awesome awesome awesome.

You're call for sure...all I can do is extend an offer/opportunity. Most always say No.....which shows me they must not really be serious. If someone offered that to me when I was coming up......I would take that chance and run with it.
