If You Are Looking for/Interested In Working With The Federal Government...Come In. Positions Availa

A&T Alum with a degree in Computer Science....I'm ready to move out of NC, I'm about to PM you about some of the positions OP

I know FEMA has had an IMAT team stationed in NY since October to assist with responding to Sandy. My old girl's dad is a Contracting Officer for the Marines in NY (he lives in long island), but I think he works in Merrick or something.

I haven't seen a lot of in NY or LA just yet. It's best to see what Federal Agencies or Federal/Defense Contractors are located in your area and go from there. Once you understand how things work, half of the battle is finding out which jobs are coming down the pipeline and then positioning yourself in a successful spot to obtain them. A large portion of this is networking. When I worked part time at Cole Haan....I had GS-15 Contracting Officers trying to barter for my discount and such (which I just willingly gave away). Once they found out I was in their same field as well, they opened the flood gates to positions and escorted me through the building to get an interview in two weeks (something that would take 6 months to never usually). Point being....put yourself out there, you never know which person you meet next while waiting in line might be someone that could change your life.

If you have that typical smug NTer entitled attitude......good luck! You'll be stuck in a box like Ninjahood complaining about a thread about nothing on an internet message board.

My man is working with FEMA doing this...pretty good $ for a contractor...$30/hr plus OT...just got a 4 month extension as a matter of fact

Yeah man. I was just offered a position with FEMA being their Procurement Unit Leader for one of their Regional/National Teams. I just got back from the introduction/welcome in Aniston, AL two weeks ago.

Seems like a cool opportunity.....75% travel time, lots of overtime and such. Something to ponder.

:smokin awesome thread JesusShuttlesworth...I'm about to graduate the end of this month and still looking/interviewing for different positions

Would you happen to know of any for engineering (specifically biomedical) at the FDA or anywhere for instance? I can definitely shoot you a PM if that'd be better with my resume and all...but I'd be looking to get in the DMV area :nerd: Really great gesture on your part helping people out.

All I ask from folks is some semblance of reciprocation or paying it forward:

This is really my passion and what I enjoy (helping other people) and the community:

I got more PMS and responses to this thread in the first 15 minutes than I did the one above.....and I personally feel like both are just as good.

I have made threads about this event and my other charitable efforts to assist Single Mothers in the DMV area and have gotten little to no feedback from NT.

I know folks are quick to reach out when they want/need something....I'm not naive at all, I just try and help people when I can as I know what it is like to have the cards stacked against you growing up. I wish someone like me would have been around when I was growing up....I probably would have been playing professional baseball or something instead of having to work and help support a household at 13/14 years old.

Some folks don't realize how good they have it!

The traffic is mind-numbing and the quality of life is poor unless you buy something right next to your job. I've been here for years personally and know the city and surrounding areas very well.

The Humid Summers are not appealing to me and the sporadic weather is not something I like either.

I personally liked Battle Creek....being from (NY) and still having family there and living in the DC Metro area for the majority of my life. I appreciate my stays in smaller cities like Richmond, Norfolk and especially my time in Phoenix.

Mainly because I can walk around there and be a complete stranger. Folks always approaching me around here on the streets or when I play basketball looking for handouts or with open hands and empty pockets. I like to help folks and it's hard saying No....when I know I got it or can help. Now I base my willingness to help on someone's genuine nature or appreciation.

For me I just need a change of scenery. I like traveling and seeing new places and I'm ready to just make my grounds somewhere else.

I repped you before seeing you are a ODU/VCU alum....i went ot GMU :D

The majority of the DLA work is located at Ft. Beloir, Hybla Valley, Merrifield/Gatehouse and the Mark Center.

My old lady works at Quantico and I know some folks in the IA/IT departments and the larger contractors that have presence their. What were you looking for?

I actually work in one of the buildings in Quantico for one of the larger contractors supporting the investigative agencies (DIA, DSS, NCIS, CID, OSI, etc). I am just curious as to what else is around the area that I don't really see.

I am in IT. Certified & cleared already

This position also just came up today (I hope to find someone for this....otherwise it looks like I'll be heading over to do this and that's a killer commute for me): This is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate with a little bit of experience.

Meanwhile back at the ranch...

Busy next couple of days getting back into things after travel, but I for those who have sent resumes and messages....I will do my best to respond with a quick turnaround and at least touch base.

I should have time on Sunday to actually dive in and provide feedback on resumes and more in depth/personal advice on ones job search.
