going to study this weekend for the battery test.... seems pretty easy not going to go in big headed though

i didn't think it would take so long to get cleared for secret and I didn't want to think that being a minority was going to hold things up, but I am starting believe it myself :\

Took about 3 months for my cousin to get his secret.

Lol dudes in here acting like if you're a minority your clearance getting delayed by default. Wait times are long across the board.

8 months vs 22 months and counting. Whats the explanation for that ?

Wait times are long but shouldn't be that long.

I can only speak from my personal experience as a minority. There are a lot of variables in the mix though.

Yes, wait times are long but if your foreign and/or have foreign relatives you cant expect your clearance to be as short as someone from here and with no foreign relatives. My clearance took 3 months my coworker and were brought on at the same time but he was from England and his clearance took a year. We both were getting a secret.

Question, what depts are you guys working in to need security clearances and is this normal for federal IT gigs/contracts or only for specific depts?

You will see it on the job description. It depends on the contract, if you are working under a contract that requires a clearance doesn't matter what position you are you have to get a clearance in order to work under the contract.

The type of work you are doing....handling sensitive vs non-sensitive/proprietary information. The facility or agency also matters.

WHCA for example requires a Yankee White Clearance which requires an essentially spotless record across the board and still takes about 12 months to get. That's a six figure clearance alone though.

I dont think I did to well fam

There is three parts

Logic and reasoning was a total mind **** ran out of time had like 10 questions left with 2 mins left..

Second Part was basic grammar and organizing paragraphs easy as hell

Third part was watching videos of scenarios and recalling the info was the easiest part for me being prior law enforcement

But in other news i got my final grades for this semester 12 credits more richer. :smokin

that's the ultimate goal.... for me, cant get anymore bonuses I have 10 years of service in.... I'm going to University of Louisiana at Lafayette right now.

always make a deal on them re up deals.... I might ask them to pay my student loans if I resign for another 6 which would put me at 18 years. at the end of my contract..

I would def ask for that bro get all you can get out of em.

what is your rank/mos/ and major ? might as well throw ocs in the mix also.....

All Good Man. All One Can Do Is The Best They Can. That Alone Is 100% Better Than Those Too Scared To Even Try.

It Will Work Out.

E-5 91H and Marketing.
Looking to get my masters in agriculture environment economics
Been trying to do OCS for the longest ROTC was to slow and I'm pushing to transfer from the Louisiana Guard to DC.

I thought about doing ROTC about 2 years ago.... then they told me I would not be able to get a slot to go active duty until like 2019... I was like f that.....

if you are an E-5.... I believe you can go to accelerated OCS at Fort Rucker Alabama.

Thought I posted this earlier:

Yeah I can was going to do it last year but fell into the mode of moving to DC.

The active duty recruiter here said he could ship me off to Benning in a month or two. I'm going to weight my options on if I want to do ROTC or accelerated since I get the kicker for school pay thru OCS.

Put it this way if I reup I'm not spending my time as enlisted

Update temp gs-9 turned into a permanent position where I work....thinking about moving closer pineville/alexandria area....

Still applying to other jobs f that

Good to hear!

I've been extremely busy with the Holidays and getting things organized/situated after an adventurous year. I'll be back consistently sooner than later.

Best wishes to all.
