Thor: The Dark World (Movie Thread) 11/08/13

i like how they didnt go with the now standard superhero story arc of the hero losing his powers/suit/cant climb out of a hole and its not till the end where they figure it out and use the new powers to beat the bad guy. Thor was Thor throughout the whole movie

I think marvel wants to set it up to where Thanos is behind the scenes of everything. Watching all the nine realms and seeing where all the gems end up. I don't think he'll be the main antagonist of A3 either, he'll have to have his own film once he collects all the gems. It'll be all the heroes in the universe versus thanos. They might need reed Richards smarts by then as well...

Random: I think Rihanna should play death opposite thanos. She would be PERFECT!!...Marvel get on that!

I think thanos makes an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy. Loki used illusion from what I saw/didn't see if that makes sense

I was really surprised at how good this movie was. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. A few surprises in this one and visuals were amazing. The trailer threw me off, i thought it was going to be a laugher.

i wonder when Modok or Leader will make an appearance? After Avengers 2?

Still waiting for a RuffaHulk solo film

They did that in first Thor film, wouldn't make sense to do it again in this one.

Really liked this movie. I liked the beginning fight scene and the invasion of Asgard the best. Those black hole grenades were awesome.

Wasted my time staying for the after credit scene. Was lamer than the schwarma scene.

I thought that was Samuel Sterns aka Leader in the last Hulk movie, not Modok.

EDIT:

Just checked IMDB and yeah, that was the character's name. So it was a hint at Leader making an appearance in a future Hulk movie.

The blueprints for that form showed up in Captain America: The First Avenger and Dr. Zola (Arnim Zola) IS making a return in The Winter Soldier. I'm guessing he is a big part in creating Ultron in this re-imagined version of the Ultron origin because he is seen defecting in the first CA movie to the organization that came up with the super soldier serum. I can't recall their name, but am wondering if they are connected to SHIELD in any way. :nerd:

I still think Ultron will come from Jarvis.

:frown:

All signs are pointing to that especially with the comic-con teaser of Starks helmet turning into Ultron head but that's too cheesy of a cop out for marvel. Maybe S.H.I.E.L.D ceases control of Starks blueprintsof his armors to make a "hero" that can alleviate danger and stop villains without causing half the damage the avengers were causing in the first film and he then becomes self aware causing the earths mightiest heroes to clique up again or.....I don't know something. Anything but the Jarvis theory.

I don't think it's a cop out, outside of Pym making Ultron, that seems to be the next best thing to be honest since IM already had an IM army in IM3. Though he destroyed it all, there could easily be a virus or Jarvis himself starts making suits himself and Tony finds out and tries to destroy and then there it begins.

Instead of SHIELD, I could see it being the World Security Council (the monitors Fury was talking to that wanted to nuke NY in Avengers) making the bot-army w/o Furys knowledge.

Obviously shield has info on Jarvis from the first 2 ironmans and avengers.. Ironman1, tony meets fury sitting in his living room.. Ironman 2, black widow is stark's personal assistant.. And avengers, coulson overrides the system..

As shown in avengers, shield kept the hydra weapons and tech.. So I assume they would have studied Tony's tech.. So I hope it's the guys on the dark screens acting shady because as the demonstrated in avengers, they weren't down with that plan..

Or the US government going along with Zola

And of course everything blowing up in their faces

After seeing this movie I'm convinced that iron man 3 was not really im3 but a parody of IM. A "scary movie" of marvel films if you will. That movie was so horrible it had to of been on purpose.

This movie had everything the frost Thor didn't. Thor 1 had just enough to set you up for the next but nothing to say "man, that was awesome". Enjoyed just seeing a Thor movie but this one was actually satisfying.

Thor 1 was actually my most favorite Phase I movie and I liked this one just as much. It actually feels like the "Empire Strikes Back" of this (eventual) Thor trilogy perfectly setting up Thor 3 with Loki "winning" at the end.

And as much as people say certain actors define certain characters, I absolutely cannot see anyone ever stepping into Hiddleston's shoes as Loki.

Havent seen it yet and do not want to accidentally see a spoiler so I got a question. Someone told me there are two end credit scenes to stay for. Is this true?

The mid credit scene is the one to stay for. The end credits scene not really worth sitting through them.

i said the same thing in the im3 thread.

I think Stark/ Downey Jr. has been the favorite for a few year and i think im3 was meant to wane his popularity and likeability. As the storyline goes on, Stark becomes less and less of a likeable character and is actually the antagonist in a lot of situations like the mutant registration act.

Great movie but the after credits scene was ..... seemed low budget to me. Maybe because the guy looked like Mugatu from zoolander lol
