Injuries sidetracking Spurs’ search for playoff momentum
Locker by locker, player by player, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich made his way around the visitors’ dressing room at Chesapeake Energy Arena late Thursday night in full rally-the-troops mode.

With a 100-88 loss to Oklahoma City, the Spurs had just surrendered their stranglehold on first place in the Western Conference. With every pat on the rump and rub of the shoulders, Popovich meant to convey the notion that everything was going to be OK.

On the other side of the room, dressing slowly and gingerly like a retiree prepping for the early bird supper, stood a compelling argument to the contrary.

“I just have to get healthy,” All-Star point guard Tony Parker said. “I’m not going to give you any other answers than that.”

For the Spurs, limping toward the playoffs, that is the only answer that matters.
SPURS got 2 weeks to get healthy.

SPURS play the Atlanta Hawks tonight in San Antonio. It would be nice to win the #1 seed right now but with Gallo down the 2nd seed isnt that bad.

Plus NTs finest Antidope going for the win-win tonight no matter what. SPURS get rest and his favorite team the Atlanta hawks might just steal one in the AT&T center.

spurs are 2nd to my raptors.
imo the 2nd seed is better, you face rockets, and then GSW/DEN. Much better than the lakers and then mem/lac.

I just want to see timmy get a ring one more time and kawhi get his 1st

Really have to respect Duncan still playing the way he has after all these years. Tony Parker has had a great season too, despite his injuries.

Their scouting & team system with how they get it done on the court is still consistent after all these years too.

Tracy McGrady is joining the San Antonio Spurs.

"It's official," McGrady told ESPN.com in a text message Tuesday afternoon.

The 33-year-old McGrady will be eligible to play for the Spurs during the playoffs because he was not on an NBA roster as of March 1. He said he will not play in San Antonio's regular-season finale on Wednesday night against Minnesota.

McGrady
McGrady last played in the NBA during the 2011-12 season, averaging 5.3 points and 16.1 minutes per game for Atlanta.

He played in the Chinese Basketball Association this year, averaging 25 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.1 assists.

Asked how much he can contribute to the Spurs, who recently released Stephen Jackson, McGrady was humble.

"I guess that's the unknown," he said.

Despite his terrific individual career, McGrady, who led the NBA in scoring in 2003 and 2004, is widely known for never having won an NBA playoff series.

With the second-seeded Spurs set to face either the Houston Rockets or Los Angeles Lakers in the first round, this may be his best chance.

"Whatever happens, I'm just glad to be a part of this environment," McGrady said via text. "[It's] something I never experienced while being my best!"

rather spurs play HOU then LAL in the first round. you just cant count out the refs to screw them over. Im worried right now and no, the spurs not advancing past the first round has nothing to do with tmac
