not feeling a price increase especially if its no step up in quality, so glad my collection  is almost complete and I can retire, or start buying other shoes besides jays..

Where in the article do they discuss jacking up prices for limited releases?

An unexpected by-product of an industry in tough times is that some things that were once entertained at factory level are suddenly no longer on the menu. One manifestation is pressure on minimum orders. Gone are the days apparently when the factory would happily produce 20 pairs for promo purposes. Perhaps this partly explains the slowdown in colab projects in the past 18 months, not to mention the fact that supplies of Quickstrikes and Tier Zero have practically dried up. This in turn has put huge pressure on boutique retailers, many of whom were reliant on these types of products being created specifically for them.

That means it is much more expensive to produce something limited than a basic, GR color.
i dont buy that ****...its called nike ID.

According to reports, JB prices will increase from 160 to 170

Yep you are right people keep paying $100 or more over retail from resellers so nike sees that consumers would definitely pay for the shoes if they had a $10 price increased retail price.

This was all part of the plan years ago and it's not going to stop, whether the demand is there or not.

MJ himself stated years ago that he wants his shoes to be a "luxury" item, sort of the way it was in the 90's.

just give me carmines and the hare 7s then ill be pretty much done with the brand. With the price increases, no doubt they will soon retail at $200

Not true homie.... Royal Is were 105 GBP, which was 157 USD. Maximum $5-10 above US MSRP with tax added.
The 88s were £165 in the UK, that is $250, a $50 increase! I always say it would be so much better to live in the US to cop Js... lol.

The standard price of new releases is £135 which is $205, the retail in the US is $160, we get hit heavily.

And I've said, it could be a $10 increase or a $50 increase, people will still COP! There will be the few who will boycott now cos they've had enough, but it is nowhere near enough to cause some sort of uprising. Most people will sit back, complain about the increase, and still go and cop on release (I know cos I will do the exact same lol, of course for releases I want).

Unless there is a SERIOUS boycott of JB due to the rising costs of their products, then everything will stay the same. Especially with resale values these days, some kicks going for more than double retail, Nike are watching thinking they're the ones getting robbed!

i hope the crappy mom and pop shops in nyc dont raise their prices over $5.30 any more then the prices are now

these bastard store owners will be paying $90.10 direct from nike in 2014
and for the past 2 years they been charging anywhere from $240.00 to $300.00 per release at $160.00 box price

wholesale from nike in 2013 at $160.00 box price is $84.80 without shipping direct from nike

This is not good news, but it seems that people have been slowing down on recent releases anyways.

Both the 8s, the Toro 4s & the 1s didn't sell out instantly in stores.

FNL and FTL just need to keep sending me those discounts. i hope the other discount codes I find on here continue too

Figured this was coming but since the price increase in 2011 I've become more selective about my pick ups and this will only make me more selective....

Is what it is I guess.
