"Alright, so, this isn't the coolest mystery and it could potentially be very solvable but it has always made me wonder: The McStays.
In short, a family of four (husband, wife, and two young children) just fall off the face of the planet. They left eggs on the kitchen counter (as if someone were about to fry them), the dogs in the backyard with no food, and the husband/father's asthma medicine was found in their car. No large amount of clothes or food or toys were missing and their almost $100,000 in different bank accounts remains untouched. They had just moved into a new house, and the husband's business was going very well. There's evidence that the wife was a little over the top, perhaps crazy, but nothing solid-- and if anything, she seems overprotective and weird about the children (not the type to kill dad and flee to Mexico, but who knows). Also, she was apparently a freak about their dogs- all of the people that knew her (whether they had good or bad things to say about her) agreed that she would not have left the dogs outside without food through her own volition.
There's a video of a family that looks like them crossing the border, but its from after four days without cell phones, money, or any sightings. Family members say that the heights/clothing of the family on the video is off, and of course, no McStay passports or birth certs were shown there (the wife didn't even have a passport). Plus, the husband and wife had been opposed to taking the children into Mexico for many years prior (per family members/acquaintances) because it was too dangerous.
The husband had a son from a previous marriage that he regularly visited who hasn't heard anything from his father since. The wife spoke with her sister consistently and had just made plans to visit a newborn niece/nephew, and had bought baby clothes the day of their disappearance. She'd also just bought $4,000 worth of new flooring for their new house and was excited to have it installed. These are just a few of the myriad, various details that portray them as normal and settled."
