The Sopranos...ending

Word.  I need to watch it again, too.  At one point I copped the box set when I caught it on sale.  Never got around to watching it again, so after a year or so I sold it on Craigslist for like $80.

They need to put this up on Netflix streaming ASAP.

It'll never be there, unfortunately. HBO has HBO Go for their streaming service.

Ahh this thread again.

A classic ending to a classic show. If you were left disappointed you simply didn't get it.

I'm going to have to agree with this.

Just finished watching this series. Great all around. The ending took me a few minutes to get... But once I got it... My mind was blown. :smh:

Just finished the Sopranos, and I have to say it is now my favorite TV show of all time. The ending though.........

I had read before about the ending, but when I experienced it myself I was incredibly frustrated. So I took to the internet for an explanation about what happened, and found several different theories that ranged from the plausible to the unintelligent. After a few days of thinking on it, I have concluded that the only ending that gives me closure and makes sense to me is that Tony gets shot by the cat in the Members Only jacket (which someone else wears on the show before, I just forgot who). That's why the screen fades to black. Without Tony, there is no show. I remember Tony and Bobby talking about how getting whacked would be quick, and now I realized it was foreshadowing Tony getting shot. I am now ok with the ending, but I feel they could have done it better and less confusing. i also would have liked an additional episode showing the power vacuum after Tony dies, but that is just wishful thinking

I didn't mind the ending. He met with his family for a meal. Never thought there was enough evidence to lead me to believe he was killed. It could have been better though.

I remember wanting to make this thread two summers ago when I first finish the Sopranos

Show will always be the goat.

Here's an interpretation of the ending that i really like

I don't think it's important whether he lives or dies at the end. I think the purpose of the show was to take you inside his world, his mind, how he lives, what he cares about. And then at the very end of the show, to place you (very simply) inside his point-of-view and instead of giving you a catharsis, to just let you sit there.

Tony Soprano may live or die at the end of the show, but his life (as he knows it) is effectively over, and I think the show was about making you feel that (which is why it confused so many people at home).

Do you guys remember when all of the movie rumors were circulating after the show wrapped up? I wonder what happened with that. It was almost guaranteed to happen and then it just ceased.

I made this thread four years ago. Still pissed about the ending. I've read all the blogs and explanations over the years. And the POV explanation is what I go with. He's dead everything is black. But god damn, it brings up memories of when I first saw it. I thought the DVD was scratched. And then the credits. :smh:

I'll probably will be rewatching soon. My girl has never seen the show.
