The Sopranos...ending

It's got pictures, and videos and everything, just read thru those, you'll get enough of what you need.

It will show you that every single episode you watched that final season led up to that moment and gave you the clarity of what happened. That person (who has to be related to the writer or something  ) puts it together perfectly for you. It'll completely change your views on the last season entirely.
according to this the members only jacket guy killed him...but if your watch the ending when that dude is sitting down
he's tapping on the counter with his finger prints , touching coffee mugs , sitting infront of a waitess that can identify him
and in a public place....what kind of hitman is that sloppy

I always thought that it was open to interpretation. Maybe he got shot, maybe he gets indicted, etc. Sopranos is far from realistic, bruh. Remember when Bobby shot dude with no gloves and dropped the gun right by the body?

What the hell man? I dedicate a month of my life to finally watching this show and I get to the series finale an they give me that ****. Sooo is he dead? If so for what reason? Phil was wacked an the goons was called off. Or did Meadow just walk in. What the hell is the point of an ending like that? An why the hell would they start the storyline about him being indicted.

I'm all for endings that force you to interpret ****. But this was a damn epic show. It needed a clear cut ending. The fans need closure. Argh
I heard they were planning on making a movie to pick up where the ending left off, but that was years ago. With the rise of kickstart and now that shows like veronica mars are getting funding to make their own movie, I think the same could happen for the sopranos to explain this weird ending. Was still a good show though.

But the creator of the show has no interest in that.

If he did, HBO would back up a dump truck full of cash to his front door.

Real talk when that finale aired, I thought my cable went out. I was furious when I realized how they copped out. Kicked the TV stand and everything.

I thought the same thing, I didn't hate the ending though- the last scene had a lot of meaning to it

Yeah, the last scene was good and in retrospect it wasn't as bad as I thought it was back then. Still seemed like a copout. I would have rather seen Tony get indicted, or shot, then fade to black.

i would have been mad if i followed this show for 6-7 years and thats how they ended it. lol

that ending was trash..

Just finished the series a couple of weeks ago

At first I was like >D.....then I was like :wow:......then I was like :smokin

I like the whole maybe it did...maybe it didnt ending

I still think the Dark Knight Rises ending was open to interpretation too tho....Batman died b

I was disappointed at the ending too at first..... but after rewatching the last season it wasn't as bad as I felt the first time round.

I was pissed last summer, never watched the joint and sprinted throught the joint...when I seen that season finale I was snapping in the crib :smh:

great ending it wasn't about him dying or living. it's about how tony was gonna have to live the rest of his life in constant fear, always looking over his shoulder and if and when a hit comes it won't be dramatic.everything will just go blank.

That sequence was the most you ever felt as tony. Always looking over your shoulder. You basically lived how he does for a brief moment.

people who reacted to the ending the same way as the OP was exactly what the director wanted. he was saying eff you to all the casual fans who wanted to see the same ole bloody head shot ending. he says so in his interviews

By some of the replies in here you guys have me thinking Lost will dissapoint me... I don't know how that's possible though.

It's so good right now I'm up to the middle of season four and these two people just stopped some chemical crap from happening.

I hope it doesn't turn out that someone was just dreaming all of this crap the whole time.

Casual fans? As opposed to what? Are there Sopranos fans out there who live and breathe it? Do they participate in Sopranos role playing and get Sopranos tattoos? I watched that show from the first episode, until the finale on HBO as it aired. I think that the ending was a copout. It's not inventive or revolutionary to end a show with no closure, its just lazy and stupid.

There is closure, it's filled with closure.

Whether he dies then and there or in 30 years it doesn't matter. If he gets arrested and goes to prison, it ddoesn't matter. He's already dead. He's aleady a miserable sociopath and that won't change.

We have our closure just because the final shot cuts to black doesn't mean we don't know what happened.

So they could have ended the series at any point by just blacking out? During any episode or any season? We knew he was a miserable sociopath in the first episode. I don't consider that a finale or closure.

That's not what I said. And no, because there's expectation that he might change or grow. He doesn't, in the end, and that's why Melfi ended it. We couldn't have reached that conclusion at any point in any episode . it had to come at the end, after years of trying and failing.

I need to watch it again. I hated it when it aired. I also didn't recognize the symbology or foreshadowing that is mentioned here:

Interpretations of final scene
The final shot of Tony Soprano in "Made in America"

The final scene of "Made in America" became the subject of much discussion, controversy and analysis after its original broadcast. The use of an abrupt cut to black followed by several seconds of silence led many viewers to initially believe that their cable or DVR had cut out at a crucial moment.[21] Opposing interpretations soon emerged among viewers regarding the ultimate fate of series protagonist Tony Soprano, with some believing that he was killed while others believe that he remains alive.[3][40] One argument for the former points to a conversation that Tony had in the midseason premiere episode "Soprano Home Movies" with his brother-in-law Bobby, in which Bobby comments on how suddenly and without sound death can happen in their lives as gangsters: "You probably don't even hear it when it happens, right?" A flashback to this scene also appears in the final minutes of "The Blue Comet", the episode preceding "Made in America".[24][41] When questioned on the theory, HBO spokesman Quentin Schaffer stated that the conversation is a "legitimate" hint.[40] The final scene showing a man credited as "Man in Members Only jacket" who goes to the bathroom has been interpreted as a nod to a scene in the The Godfather, in which Michael Corleone retrieves a gun from the bathroom before shooting his enemies to death.[42] Speculation has also linked the jacket to the title of the opening episode of the season, "Members Only", in which Tony is shot and also as a symbolic reference to membership of the Mafia. Actor Matt Servitto told Entertainment Weekly that in the script, the scene continued with the man in the Members Only jacket emerging from the washroom and starting to walk towards Tony's table before the screen cuts to black, but he preferred the ending that made the final cut of the episode.[43] Contrary arguments about the ending's meaning have also been made. It has been suggested that the final scene means that while life is fraught with fear and danger, it nevertheless goes on. The lyrics of the closing song are thought to support this.[44] Supporters of this interpretation point out that because of Tony's peace agreement with the Lupertazzi family and their tacit sanction of a hit on Phil, there was no legitimate basis to expect a hit on Tony.[45] However, as it has been mentioned in the conversation between Bobby and Tony in the midseason-premiere about the threat of getting whacked: For guys like them, "it's always out there.
