"Elite" has been a gimmick from day 1. If you're still trying to figure it out what makes it elite...., stop.

That said, this is the dopest lebron elite so far.

on point chitown...said this same thing pages ago

although imo the X is the best elite by far.

3 bills for a cheaper version of a shoe the star athlete doesn't even like, or really wear?  Umm, yea.  $275 in of itself is crazy.

It was nuts even in 2002 when Nike priced the XVII @ $200 upon the GOAT's 2nd come back, most popular player ever and already a lineage and pent up desire for his quality products.  With actual leather, durability, aesthetics, and comfort.

Now?  $300 for take down model to be more "light" and the guy who it's designed for doesn't even wear them.  The dumb youths continue to support it too.
Youts?

My man don't even bother, this has been beaten to death by us 'older cats'. I just buy one GR pair (no PS, Elite, EXT, Low) on some kind of discount just to add to my I-XI collection and move on.

Nike's targeted consumer is the youth with their Pokemon-like 'Gotta catch 'em all' mentality - price is irrelevant when you just have to have something. Also bear in mind that the 'sneakerhead' phenomenon is a global thing so you have kids/cats with alot of money all over the world dropping hundreds on sneakers without batting an eyelid.

again, spoken like a true champion.

regardless of what any "collectors" say...nike is gonna continue to push the retail price envelope as long as you have 25 pairs of the same shoe in your closet. why would they change anything. collectors stand for nothing so they fall for anything

You're right, I see they're getting upset I said anything.  I was just bringing my opinion on not only the current run of LeBrons, but in essence the state of sneaker culture in general.  I won't anymore if I'm beating a dead horse already.  I'm sure it's been discussed.

LMFAO @ the "Gotta catch 'em all"

The horse was beaten to death, resurrected and beaten again my man. As rawdawg said - as long as Nike can get cats lining up for $275 sneakers they will keep raising prices.

What the hell, is Niketown the only place getting the Blackouts? It's not even on Foot Locker's release calendar.

It would be criminal if people weren't forking over the dollars.  The price hikes have made their way across their entire brand though too, not just with signatures.  It's ridiculous.  Charging so much money for plastic, synthetics, messhes, etc

Still beating the horse....

Hang around and you'll see us try and find the best deals for each other and pay a little as possible.

I understand that elites have always been a gimmick, but the fact that the elites I own feel much better than their regular counterparts is justified in that I spent basically the same price on the elites as I did on the regular versions. The sad part is saying that the LeBron XI is designed for the best player on the planet and thus should be the best basketball shoe Nike has to offer, when in fact the "best" can "get better" by stripping components and adding a little bit of carbon fiber?

I'm done with all three sigs after my iD comes in for the XI, and that just means I'm done with the XI because I can't get down with the Kobe IX (highs at least) and only own 1 pair of KDs (and yes, those newer pics of the KD elites make them look less and less flattering the more you look at em lol)

I do wonder though - why not release elite versions for like Hyperdunks and Hyperposites? I'm surprised Nike isn't scraping the bottom for every last cent...

"Using premium materials, advanced construction and athlete insights"

This is all they can come up with for the Elites.

Apparently the original 11s that cost $200 don't feature premium materials, advanced construction or athlete insights. :smh:

yea that elite pack is a disaster...it has outlet written all over them. the elite kobe 7 and bron 9s were way better and those went on sale with quickness

$100 or below and they can become beaters
laugh.gif
all of my lebrons have become beaters  (except the KPs that were stolen from me
mean.gif
) i hoop in all of em so once that traction wears out, theyre retired to casual wear/beaters. on that note! at least speaking for the lebron X model... the translucent soles traction lasts at least twice as long as the regular soles if you only play indoors. i wish i woulda knew that. that probably carries over to this model as well.
