Hails from Rayners Lane, London. He's practically a recluse there isn't much info about him at all but he unexpectedly released his debut "album" last night on Bandcamp. "Crack In The Road" music blog randomly stumbled upon it so credit goes to them (talks about it in depth here: http://www.crackintheroad.com/music/21107-feature-finding-jai-paul/). His sound is a pretty unique mixture of pop/electro/funk with some influences of his cultural background throw in.


Only a few of the track titles are known:

09. Jasmine

12. Baby Beats
14. Chix
16. BTSTU (sampled by Drake on "Dreams Money Can Buy")

Been a long time coming. Still not sure if this is an official release or not. He or XL Records havent said anything lol.
 
i've seen his name around before, but this is my first time hearing any music from this guy..

so far i really like what i'm hearing from the album.

track 9 is my favorite so far..

I've played this album non-stop since last night. I can't believe he was sitting on this for 3 years :lol:
 
Why do artists do this whole mystery thing though, guy clearly has the talent to be huge.
 
I wasnt familiar of Jai Paul at all (out side of Drake/Pusha T rapping over one of his samples)

My friend told me about this. Ill def check it out
 
Listened to this a bunch of times already and all 2013 music must now bow before this. An incredible piece of experimental dub step/r&b/pop craft. This is the future of popular music. Track 2 is a ******g work of art.

Imagine if the justin timberlake album sounded like THIS

Anyone know the name of the singer that he covers for track 7? I know the song can't remember the artist and it's seriously annoying me

The album has also officially been removed from Bandcamp after two days...

It's a little fishy. The paypal account linked to the Bandcamp page is actually his and whoever bought it is being refunded so this just might've been a "test the waters" kind of thing. It just doesn't add up.

So apparently he said on twitter this isn't the debut, whatever it is is pure coke crack. Been bumping it all day. "Jasmine" is something special

When you find out let me know. The crazy part is I was going to download the "album" last night but i left my wallet in the car so I decided to wait until today to buy it. Then all this mess happens. I guess we will have to wait until the torrent drops.

Dude just found out some real logistics about his buzz.

Dude was able to get an exact figure on how many people would pay for his music, and those people got some free music out of it.

Nobody heard anything from him in like 2 years, and i bet he had a huge number of people copping that demo. Plus son had pitchfork and every other music site poppin. That's great press and tangibly great numbers based on a test run. Boom, leverage on any deal he may be trying to get out of or get better terms on.

Definitely. This was great pub for him...if his demos can resonate with people like this he can build upon this response and really get to work. He already has various people in the music industry keeping tabs on him now.
 
This was a great marketing ploy by XL and Jai lol.

If this was really stolen, why would someone upload it to bandcamp and ask for $? And have it linked to his actual account..
