They just bumped up the power of the A45 from 355 to 376 which will likely make it to the CLA45/GLA45 in the near future.

2016 Mercedes-AMG A45 Regains Title Of Most Powerful And Fastest Hot Hatch From RS3

Thanks to a newly configured valve assembly and by reconfiguring timing and turbocharging to optimize the combustion process, AMG engineers managed to harness another 21-horses from the 2.0-liter force-fed four, pushing output from 355hp (361PS) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft) to 376hp (381PS) and 475Nm (350 lb-ft) respectively.

The new A45 AMG completes the benchmark sprint to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.2 seconds, which is 0.1 second faster than the RS3 Sportback, and 0.4 seconds faster than the outgoing A45 AMG, yet fuel consumption has been kept at the previous levels at 6.9l/100km (34.0 mpg US / 40.9mpg UK that corresponds to 162 g/km CO2. Top speed is once again limited to 250km/h (155mph).

Mercedes also revised the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission with shorter ratios in 3rd to 7th and new software, while adding a new AMG Dynamic Plus package that includes a newly developed, mechanical front axle locking differential to "significantly" improve traction.

rfx45 rfx45 how is the matte care? I saw a S63 Coupe in matte white at the mall the other day with my cousin and he's looking at a C63 coupe when it drops and seemed pretty interested in the matte paint. Is it a nightmare to maintain?

Not easy but if you are pretty meticulous with your car paint already, it's probably just a step or two further while applying new techniques unique to matte paint.

The sales associate told me the biggest problem to avoid are water spots, any waters or dirt that gets on the paint has to be removed right away or else it is hell to remove. Same with sap or bird sh*t, if it dries especially under the hot sun and you are pretty much screwed.

Scratches can't be easily fixed, the whole panel has to be removed and repainted.

Some say it is easier because you don't have to wax and polish and factory paint does have clear coat specifically for matte paint to protect it but any improper care can cause uneven shiny spots.

I've never owned one but have spoke to a few and some seems ok with it, they do suggest to avoid it if you don't have your own garage to park you car in.

:x

That sounds ridiculous. Especially if you're someone who's constantly on the move. You may not notice some water drops from a sprinkler or something for a while. :smh:

Yah that is why I don't buy what other claim that it is as easy as regular paint just because a polished paint can easy remedied by polishing and waxing while with matte it seems harder to hide anything.

If you are truly interested in matte paint, I think wrap is the best route to go. For the GLA45, the matte paint is a $2500 option so just use that money for a wrap instead.

i drove this thing around a track, had the huge wing on it too!

OMG.

I never had so much fun driving a car in my life.

It's ALOT faster than you think for "only" 355 horsepower. I've driven a 335is and this thing felt just as quick in a straight line, but handles like an sti

So car manufacturers decided to use paint that is damaged by rain?... brilliant ...

Also... the A45 is so ugly.. it's just not a good looking hatchback... the Mazda3 runs circles around it...

In all honesty though, I haven't really looked into it but there is probably a new technology out there that can help protect and prevent damages to matte paint. 5-7 years ago, there weren't much but when I looked at it 2-3 years ago, they had protectors and even matte specific detailers and sealants so those could probably help. I think Mr or Dr Beasley or something, google it if you want to look further.

I mean now there is a car paint protection that works like a clear wrap to protect from scratches and swirl marks (not just some dealership paint protection scam), car paint protection has made a leap in technology in the past few years.

Can't believe how much power these guys manages to squeeze out of the 2.0 Liter engine, it gets an extra 20hp for the 2016 model and expected to get total 400hp by the next gen.

Like its European counterpart, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder in the diminutive AMGs receives upgrades to produce 375 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque (the 381 hp rating over there is in metric ponies). That's an impressive 20-horsepower and 18 lb-ft bump over the current version of the mill. Beyond just the boost in output, quicker acceleration comes from revised, more aggressive ratios in third through seventh gears.

The latest AMGs make great use of their upgrades, too. The 2016 GLA45 now clocks the run to 60 miles per hour in 4.3 seconds, a staggering half-second quicker than the 2015 model. The CLA45 slices 0.3 seconds off its time to make the sprint in 4.1 seconds, which gives the sedan the same acceleration as a SL63 AMG.

You probably could but do keep in mind that resale value is going to go even lower and even on a lease, it might affect your monthly.

Really wish they would bring the A-Class, especially the A45 stateside, would make a better entry-level car than the CLA...

Yah sadly no one buys them in the US.

Here's the Infiniti competition the Q3.

Ugly, imo. I'm a huge fan of hatchbacks, currently drive a 2012 Mazdaspeed3 and when I upgrade in a few years, I'll consider the GLA45 because I still think it looks good. I just wish it were a little lower and more agressive looking like the A45. The US needs more hot hatches.

The GLA is an "SUV".

With that said, the next model GLA45 will have adjustable suspension (which I would have gladly paid extra for in the 2015MY) that will help with a more aggressive look, not super aggressive but it'll give a decent stance.

It seems the Q3 is actually a hatchback and not an SUV/CUV. It compete with the Golf, A3 hatch and A-Class. Interesting to see it come to the US.

4.3 0-60 is a little conservative in my book, this damn car launches! should be even better with the 2016 update

I believe it was MotorTrend who already pulled a 4.3sec 0-60 with the current GLA45, wouldn't be surprised if they get to 4sec flat 9or even below) with the update especially with the revised ****** gear ratios (probably biggest complaint on the GLA and CLA right now).
