yes both are technically his shoes, no doubt, but in 97 not everybody knew it and the 1 Cent logo on the foams is very small and the shoe was pretty new, so not everybody knew exactly what they were
 
Bump all that history crap, the lines are ugly but yeah they should have just dropped royals and a Nike branded sharpie in the box... let you go crazy with your customization if you choose. The medial seam doesn't bother me on special foams like the wheats and chomes but it just looks weird on a "OG" color.

i rather regular royals but the sharpies are ok, i wonder if you can acetone the black lines off.

the Penny 6 look dope too actually. i like how the inner medial takes hues from the Penny 4. id cop but not for $250.
 
Man that thesis on history is straight stupid. If you want a REAL piece of history, then buy the regular royals and a sharpie then make some moves. The shoes didn't come from nike with the black lines :smh:

That said? Why would anyone buy the sharpies just to unsharpie them? It would be cheaper to buy the regular royals which seem to have a better mold than the sharpies and their one piece uppers.
I'd also bet that you could get the penny 6 for the dumb low too.

The foamposite as it released back in 97 for retail, was the same shoe that the Arizona Wildcats wore, that is why it is referred to as the Mike Bibby/ Wildcats shoe. In that same year they won the final four.

Penny on the other hand did not wear that exact same version, since it was banned by the NBA. He wore the version with the vertical black stripes. There is a picture of the actual shoe that he wore in the 97 playoffs in the Orlando Magic store at Amway center. I have never been there, but I guess they have a memorabilia section there.

The upcoming release is basically an homage to this and even more is close to the actual shoe that Penny wore back then. It is like the Air Jordan shoe that was banned and still released, not sure which one that was, might have been the AJ1.

I do not know the specific reason, why Penny wore this shoe during the All-Star game in New York, I just know that in 97 he played one game at MSG with these foams, so it might be his appreciation or something similar.

So to sum it up, this is some history finally releasing. If you are only hunting for royal foams and are not somebody who is interested in the history, then I recommend you not buying this pack. This is for the true Penny fans and collectors!

Would love to flip that Sharpie foam to cover cost and keep that 6, they look real nice to me. Hope to find someone willing to pay 500 for foams haha

or buy some knicks for cheap and get someone to customize them royal so you have the under foam white and the royal blue and have the better mold.. and stunt even harder by having the right mold without the sharpie..

Sharpies arent worth that much.. but man someone shuold get slapped at nike for making these into a sucker pack..

find me a size 11.5 DS for $350 and ill buy them now. to get a foam that i can possibly acetone and the Penny 6 which i like (model will also likely retail for $180+) for $500 is good to me..

All you have to do is be deliberate in your searches and be ready to pay immediately when you do find the right price.

Whatever floats your boat dude. Can't tell you how to spend your money. I can only offer suggestions.
I'd personally gamble that the penny 6 will be available for the low from the right seller.
I'd also rather spend $350 for the real royals than spending $350 for the sharpies just to try and remove the sharpie especially with how bad the sharpies have looked so far. That mold is looking suspect on the pairs we have seen so far.
 
I def got my size 12 DS Royals for around $350.  And I like the Sharpies for what its worth, I am hoping official pics fix the mold issue
