Kevin Feige on the CGI in Guardians Of The Galaxy

Kevin Feige has been addressing CG concerns surrounding Marvel's upcoming Guardians Of The Galaxy...

One of the many concerns regarding Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy is how well director James Gunn and his team will use heavily-CG characters and backdrops in an effective way that doesn't make it all look ridiculous. A recent example of this not quite going to plan was Green Lantern, which boasted a great cast, including a solid lead in Ryan Reynolds, but fell apart - partly due to a plodding story, and partly due to unconvincing CG work.

Kevin Feige has addressed concerns regarding the use of CGI in Guardians Of The Galaxy in a recent interview with io9, and it's clearly a concern. “Iron Man 3 has as much CG as any movie we've ever made", he said, "and I hope it doesn't feel like Green Lantern. It's all about the aesthetic you go for."

He continued, adding that, "we have an art department as impressive as any art department I've ever seen in London on Guardians. And it's, you know, designing things and believing that they're real when part of the team's made up of a raccoon and a tree.”

Time will tell how effective the CG will be on this one, but the lessons of Green Lantern do appear to have been absorbed somewhere along the line. Guardians Of The Galaxy is set for release in August 2014.

Haven't heard great things about IM3, but I have high hopes for GOTG, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and the new Thor movies.

I think Marvel is definitely moving in the right direction.

I think they got the characters for the controller and yondu mixed up.

To me this is the only GOTG that I recognize

....I haven't even read an issue of the new GOTG....I really hope the movie turns out good though

Aren't these guys connected with the fantastic 4 as well?

This needs its own identity to help it stand on its own.

If it's just another Marvel movie but with characters nobody quite knows very well, nobody's gonna care. It's just gonna be filler, Iron Man/Captain America/The Avengers' second-tier little brother.

But I've read they might be going more comedic with this, which might work.

Pratt was a great choice & I hope they utilize him properly.

I completely agree. This has the potential to be " Marvel's Star Wars" and would open the door to characters and situations once thought impossible on screen. This is Marvel's most important Phase 2 film. If it flops, it'll close the door on a lot of story lines.......however if it succeeds........

Great point. This movie is going to be very key. Major MAJOR factor is marketing. Since this may be the least know about comic book adaption, you're going to need to hype this up for 3 years. More than enough time.

The potential is endless and imo Marvels most important film

Damn I got it confused with JL haha but damn a year and some change and not even a teaser trailer? I can see this being pushed back to fall-winter release

I bet we get a trailer when Thor: TDW hits theaters and then we get a longer trailer during the SuperBowl.
