By this time Jordan had his own brand. Nike was doing more marketing to penny, Barkley, Jason Kidd, Scottie pippen, Gary Payton, even Tim Duncan and Vince carter got in the action. Lets not forget the beginning of WNBA. Then Jordan brand began marketing to team Jordan and their respective players. I get what your saying with the Jordan commercials.
Yes Nike is a market in machine. But when the newest superstars come in, they need to focus more on them rather than one specific player.
