The Atlanta Falcons are working on plans for a new stadium that would open in 2017, and some of the proposed ideas are absolutely awesome.

Based on the pictures, the new stadium would be a massive all-sports masterpiece, capable of hosting anything from basketball to football to boxing, much like Cowboy Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Except this one could be even better, with something called "impact seating," which is the greatest thing ever. Scroll down for more on that.

It looks like they'll have a retractable roof, but they're working on deciding whether it will be a traditional two-panel retracting roof, or a rotating roof that works kind of like a camera shutter. Check out both of them in action:

so are they gonna build over the ga dome and world congress center or are we talking about moving the stadium out of the city ? didnt read the link. but it looks nice

They are building the stadium on the other side of the World Congress Center. There is a parking lot there now.

Nice. To bad my saints are gonna play in the super dome forever . It's damn near MSG status , but if they can tear down Yankee stadium you never know

Lets get this done so we can bring professional soccer back to the ATL.

my man willie b was spinning is his grave when the silverbacks called it a day

I hope we go with the first one...but I also hope they don't make it too big...everyone should learn from the cowboys stadium, they hardly ever get crowd noise

the only team that atlanta doesnt support is the hawks . football is king followed by baseball

Yup, and the only reason why the hawks don't get major support is because of how the trash Atlanta spirit group handled that organization, if Danny ferry do good this offseason I expect people to show up for games

The Pantheon concept would've been dope if Mike Vick was still your QB - cutting edge/flashy/ futuristic, etc. However, Matt Ryan fits The Solarium concept much better - classy/traditional/kinda boring

Because those fans show up to Braves games? Any given television broadcast and the park is about 60% capacity. Since 2002, the Braves have finished in the second half of the NL attendance for all but one year.

The Pantheon is extremely tacky. Play it safe and go with the Solarium.

They'll go with the safer looking stadium when all is said and done.
