Has Derrick Rose lost YOUR respect? SRS

None of that is possible if he doesn't put in work. If he was a bum, his jerseys wouldn't sell, his shoes wouldn't sell, and he wouldn't get any allstar or MVP votes.

So I'll say it again, none of that is possible if he doesn't put in the work.

The question I have is at what point is he just soft.

I mean he's cleared medically mentally who knows when he will feel "right"

Say dude doesn't feel right til a year from now.

He's definitely soft, no question about it.

It's not even a question of protecting himself from getting injured again, it's a matter of not leading your team into these games and providing the example that you're expected to WHEN YOU ARE HEALTHY ENOUGH TO DO SO. Should he come back when he wants to? Sure. He should also WANT to be back on the court ASAP.

Not really, but I've been a big fan. I do have no sympathy for him now though, situation was handled poorly. Either come back or shut it down weeks ago, it's really dumb at this point.

Allen, I think you put it best a few days ago....not sure how he can look guys like Noah in the eye, knowing what he's going through just to get out there and play. On top of it all, you got dudes like Nate Robinson puking on the bench with the flu, gutting it out just because he wants it so badly.

Everything was handled awfully. There should have been a concrete decision made and the Rose camp should have just kept their mouths shut.

No matter what happens, I have the feeling that he's alienated a few people. The guys on the team may say one thing to the media, but there has to be some respect lost for him. Dude has been treated with kid-gloves from the moment he came in the league. That's going to change...

*Also, aren't there reports of Rose KILLING dudes in practice?

I think he just trying to be a Money in the bank champion...Cash it in when he's ready to take the glory at the easier time...Wouldnt be surprised to see him come in and take the last shot n sink it

No. While I do think he should've came back, if he says he's not ready then that's it. As much as people sit there and pressure him he has to look out for himself because the media, the Bulls organization and whoever else isn't going to be there if he ended up hurting himself and it becomes a problematic thing that can threaten or even end his career.

if doctors cleared me to play 2 months ago and I'm running full practices with my teammates, be damned if I say nah I'm not ready.

Its the playoffs and the team needs him, can't take these post season trips for granted because nothing is ever guaranteed.

As hard as he plays I lost respect for him and he deserves the criticism.

I can't say for sure that I would do any differently than Rose, but I'm also not a professional basketball player  To me the bottom line is that if multiple doctors have cleared you play for two months, and you admit that it's mental at this point, then that's on you. The mental aspect of coming back from an injury and trusting it is something that EVERY player who gets injured has to go through. Rose isn't the first player in NBA history to come back from a torn ACL.

I get that he wants to do what's best for his career going forward, but if all the doctors are saying it's completely healed and playing on it wouldn't put him at further risk, and he's been participating FULLY in practice for some time now, then it's all in his head and I can 100% understand his teammates/fans losing respect for him. I'm sure it's not easy to feel comfortable playing on it after the injury, but tough titty. Like I said everybody else has to get over that too post-injury.

I have lost more respect for the whole Bulls organization than him. They should have said he's not coming back this season to end all of this speculation.

And wasn't his injury worse then Shumpert's?

After sitting out an whole season why would you want him to come back in the playoffs? Rusty and out of game shape just doesn't make since to me.

I agree with this. The situation was handled SOOOO poorly. Everyone knows it takes players two years to recover from these injuries. As an organization they should’ve hoped for Adrian Peterson results internally, but Shut him down for the year publicly. Instead theres this maybe nonsense.

I’m not saying D Rose handled it well either, but the organization could have easily killed this story from last year.

Some of y'all are wildin' in this thread. Derrick Rose didn't tell the media the docs cleared him, the organization did. So if their franchise player is telling them that he isn't mentally ready, then deactivate him. Right about now I'm sure they could if used the extra roster spot. These doctors have the organizations best interest in hand, not D. Rose. We all saw what happened to RG 3 when he got medical advice in the playoff game. Coming back and playing timid will only get him hurt again so he should come back at the beginning of next season. Also, practice tempo is not game tempo. Mix that in with indecisiveness and he'll actually be a liability on the floor. In the next 5 years do we want a thread about what would of happened if Penny, Grant Hill, Yao, Brandon Roy, and D Rose didn't have to retire early??

Real talk this post has me reconsidering. The Pistons medical staff and the the pressure the fans, organization and media straight ruined Grant's career and damn near cost him his life.

:smh:

Its been handled poorly by everyone in this situation from Bulls management to Derrick himself.

He could have avoided a lot of this by saying at the beginning of the season that he wouldn't play this year. Practicing at full speed after they cleared him with reports of you dunking with intensity is going to raise eyebrows. He could have played late in the season and if he didn't feel right he could have shut it down. No one would have said anything after that. Instead we see you continue to shoot around while the team is in and out of the hospital and you're on the bench and in suites watching the game.

Reggie Rose saying what he said didn't help his cause either and now adidas can be seen as possibly having him sit out to protect their investment. Derrick needs to separate the family from the business aspect and get Reggie away from him. He's done nothing but hurt his image by opening his mouth.

I can't blame him for not wanting to come back now, but I do blame him for talking about coming back and letting down the fans and his teammates...

From a fans POV [not that I'm a Chicago or big Rose fan but] to me after seeing your team battle injury and illnesses in the first round to win a game 7 on the road... How can DRose not wanna be in the starting lineup of game 1 vs. the Heat????? I understand 100% about waiting till he feels 100. But an injury like that might permanently change how your knee feels. He has been running in full practices for the past 2 months and he can't salvage enough heart to just go out there and play 5 mins against the Heat. IDK, I know he has the city on his back because he is the hometown product and honestly still the best player on the team.. But it's his legacy and if that is how he wants to play it out... then fine. People in Chicago arent gonna turn their back on him. History just shows playing banged up in the playoffs gains you respect forever amongst the fans.

Dude could atleast go out there for Game 3 at Chicago in this series and pull a David Lee for a couple minutes to get the crowd fired up.

As a big fan of his I lost some respect cause he's been cleared for two months and he's still not out there despite his team's poor health at the moment. At the same time it's his career and only he will suffer if he comes back too early and suffers a career changing injury.

That said, I have a slight feeling he might suit up against the Heat if his team goes down 2-0. I wish him a speedy recovery and cant wait to see dude on the court again.
