Mid/Hi-Top Shoes and Skinny Jeans Look Terrible Together

This is just a personal opinion of mine. I own about 30 pairs of shoes at this time, the vast majority of which consists of mid/hi-top Nike/Reebok/Jordan brand sneakers and 6-inch Timberland Boots.

They just don't look right together to me. For example, below is a picture of Chris Brown wearing the Reebok ES22 with skin-tight skinny jeans. Notice, it makes his feet look big and the shoe just doesn't look as stylish...

On the flip side, below is a picture of someone wearing the Air Jordan 13 Playoffs with loose-fitted jeans. Notice that his feet don't seem as big with the jeans coming over the shoe and IMO it even makes the shoes look more stylish.

Personally, I always wear loose-fitted jeans (or even occasionally baggy jeans) with my mid/hi-top shoes. Since I wear a size 12, I especially wouldn't look very good wearing many of my shoes with skinny jeans.

And as an aside, besides the Chuck Taylors, mid/hi-top truly became popular during the time everyone was wearing loose-fitted/baggy jeans.

But what say you about this?

Yeah I'm old school so I like the loose fitting pants.
I think skinny jeans look stupid.
But in the end I really don't care what anyone wants to wear.
It's just the way it goes, you get old and the new style looks bad
to you. At the same time kids are laughing at my baggy pants

I like that u can see the whole sneaker, like the hologram on those xiiis up there.

Aj 1s for example....wouldnt look as good if worn like the 2nd pic. And you gotta show the tounge on Vs imho.

I used to wear jeans like that, now im in that seinfeld stage.

To each his own tho.

u can be fitted and not look suspect, da legging-esque tight skinnys though i aint wit.

What happened to just wearing regular *** jeans/pants?  Neither skinny nor ultra baggy?  You know, the ones that just.....fit.

This. Neither of the pics OP posted is a good look, but the 2nd pic looks waaay worse. Most of the shoe is covered up. Back in HS when baggy jeans were still in style a few of us used to tie rubber bands or shoelaces around the ankles to keep them up so you could still see most of the shoe/avoid jean stains  As hilarious as that is now I still think it looked better than the pic dude posted of the jeans covering most of the XIII.

I agree that super skinny jeans don't look good with modern looking basketball shoes such as the XIII, but more old school high tops like earlier J's, Dunks, and other such sneakers look way better with slim fit jeans with a small opening. That's not even taking into account how fugazi those giant jeans you posted look regardless of what shoes you're wearing. That was the style growing up but nowadays you would look pretty sloppy wearing jeans like that

I understand not wearing skinny fit jeans, but you just need to find a fit that looks good and know when to wear it, whether it be straight, slim-straight, etc. I wear a size 12 too and you will never see me in some baggy *** jeans like the guys with the 13s or the 4s

With bigger kicks I'll wear jeans with a wider leg opening, Slimmer shoes I can wear something more fitted.

Even a pair of bootcuts I have aren't baggy, they're fitted except for the leg opening.

Ahh yes,  the high school days in the south. Everyone used to do that damn "what do want from me hand pose" in pictures with their girbauds and jays or the Trick Daddy "Thugs R Us" pose.

There aren't too many discussions about it on the internet, so I just wanted to get an idea of how everyone else felt about this.

I can understand some of the reasons behind wearing skinny jeans. After all, what's the point in getting these shoes if folks can't see most of the shoe you're wearing and if they're just going to be stained by the jeans you're wearing? Personally though, I haven't had a problem with jean stains as of yet.

I just always thought the shoes and feet looked bulky in skinny jeans. And then even with straight fit jeans, you'll likely be flooding just a bit while sitting down.

if you think the chris brown pics is "skin tight" what would you call pants that are ACTUALLY skin tight.. the bottom pic of the loose jeans make it sound like thats a regular for you. so loose/baggy jeans to you may be JNCO or them michael jordan jeans

his jeans look more on the SLIM, not SKINNY

these are skinny

i dont wear either. i wear JEAN SHORTS!!

I disagree.

2nd pic looks turrible.

Skin tight jeans look horrible with anything.

Skinny jeans are way better. They're more fitted and accentuate the kicks.
