The thread is back again for the 2013 outdoor Track & Field season. Though the community that follows athletics here is small, this thread was always entertaining throughout past outdoor seasons leading up to major championships. After a wonderful 2012 Olympic Games in London, England, the focus is now on the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia from August 10-18. Leading up to that countries will have their national championships, and of course, the 14-city worldwide Diamond League meets.

Started the thread today as the first Diamond League meet begins this Friday afternoon (May 10) in Doha, Qatar. Below you can find the schedule for main dates/events this outdoor season.

May 10 - Diamond League (Doha)
May 18 - Diamond League (Shanghai)
May 25 - Diamond League (New York)
June 1 - Diamond League (Eugene, OR)
June 6 - Diamond League (Rome)
June 13 - Diamond League (Oslo)
June 19-23 - Jamaican National Track & Field Championships
June 20-23 - USA National Track & Field Championships
June 20-23 - Canadian National Track & Field Championships

June 30 - Diamond League (Birmingham)
July 4 - Diamond League (Lausanne)
July 6 - Diamond League (Paris)
July 12-14 - UK National Track & Field Championships
July 19 - Diamond League (Monaco)
July 26-27 - Diamond League (London)
August 10-18 - 2013 IAAF World Track & Field Championships (Moscow, Russia)
August 22 - Diamond League (Stockholm)
August 29 - Diamond League (Zurich)
Sept 6 - Diamond League (Brussels)

Three standout races that happened so far this outdoor season, which began a few weeks back.

Jamaica's 4x100 Women's relay team beat the USA for the time time in seven years at Penn Relays.

Tyson Gay ran a world leading 9.86 at the Jamaican Invitational last weekend.

Usain Bolt made his season debut on Wednesday night running 10.09 in the Cayman Islands, coming off a hamstring injury.

Really thought he lost the race, but they gave it to him since he was the big name or his training partner let up.

But somehow he won

Of course I am excited for the 800 this year. Also excited for Lashawn Merritt to be back after that injury. Jeremy is also looking good this season, a lot better than last year.

i thought i was the only track head in this forum :pimp: :pimp:

There's a few regulars, and the casuals that pop up during the World Championships/Olympics. Patton's 9.75 was wind-aided, so Tyson has the fastest legal time this year so far.

Also excited for Lashawn Merritt to be back after that injury.

He looked real good last night, won the Men's 200m in 20.26

looking to see how some of my teammates do at worlds this year
Anaso Jobodwana (200m finalist in the olympics last year JSU sophomore)
Michael Tinsley (silver medalist 400IH last olympics JSU teammate and alum)
Kristi Castlin (high school teammate 2012 US Indoor champ 60m hurdles Va tech)
Bianca Knight (world record holder womens 4x1 ridgeland HS UT)
Cordero Gray (100m teammate my first year running professionally UTA)
Philip Redrick (100m 200m SWAC rival then turned pro teammate TSU)

Theres so many more runners that i know that i know will be running but too many to be on here tryna name but this will be an interesting outdoor diamond league mad im missing out due to messing up my knee after my first meet this season :smh:

Yeah, this outdoor season I'm really looking forward to how a lot of these new young faces will perform. Santos and James in the 400, Tinsley and Jack Green in the 400mH, Gemili, and those two Japanese sprinters that can go under 10 seconds this season, a bunch of those runners from the Men's 800m Olympic final were under 23.

Russia also has a lot of potential this year going into the World Championships. Will be interesting to see if their athletes will step up, or fall to the pressure of performing at home.

I don't know about Q(dip tdot) but I run at a small D1 in Texas. So I'm always up on the races during the year when the pro season gets going

Pretty good early season times for some folks at Doha today.

If anyone ever wants to talk running hit me on twitter, huge fan of the sport

800. Still running like a HS'er time wise :smh:
Only 155. Really want to make regionals next year and pop 150 low, 149 high so I'm gonna do all I need to this summer and push myself to my limits all year. Just gonna need to put it together in a race

It's not helping that this upcoming year will be my 4th different training program in 4 years. Smh
