Official 2013 Track & Field Thread: World Championships Day 9 - Bolt & SAFP 3 Gold Medals

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :smh: I know people take stuff, but sometimes it surprises me who actually does.

Ain't no need to be naive, juicing is heavy in Track.

Doesn't take away from my enjoyment of the sport, it is what it is.

Looks like VCB (Veronica Campbell-Brown) may face a lifetime banning after testing positive after the Jamaican Invitational last month.

:smh: If true. One of the most decorated athletes in Track & Field, and big blow to the Jamaican Women's World Championships 100/200/4x100 team. Jamaica's national trials are next weekend.

im not surprised at all there will be more Jamaicans and other athletes that will be tested and will be exposed !! WATCH !!

This.

I heard Victor Conte one time on a podcast and he said the Jamaican rise to prominence in sprinting was almost certainly fueled by PED's.

Not just the Jamaicans...Carl Lewis and Flo-Jo were widely suspected as doing so. The ones who get caught are a relative few compared to the ones who actually do it.

Yeah i reckon the majority of dudes was juiced to the gills during the 70's and 80's.

Athletes only really started to get outed after the Ben Johnson incident though and there's been a gang of them since them.

I understand why people would take them but it's bad for the image of the sport. Especially when it's World and Olympic champions that are getting clipped :smh:

Yohan Blake is withdrawing from the 200m at the Jamaican Trials this weekend. He's only doing the 100m at the World Championships.

Don't know if anyone has watched before, but Ato Boldon has a nice vlog series going on with the IAAF. Pretty good interviews with the big names in T&F past and present. Ironically, one of his recent features was on Veronica Campbell-Brown.

Currently they've done 16 episodes, but I'll post the last 3 (Kirani James, VCB, Christine Ohorougu)

EDIT: Heck, I've put up all the episodes. The one's I haven't posted were Q&A's between fans and Ato, you can check them here.

I love track and field, but it's sad when you find those that you adore in the sport aren't clean athletes.

I wonder why Blake only wants to do the 100m.

^ He's been injured, with what? no one knows. Because he's the reigning World Champion at 100m's he gets a "wild card" spot and doesn't have to run at the trials this weekend. More than likely he isn't fit enough for the 200 and also doesn't want to risk further injury. Sucks because the 200m final has potential to be just as if not more loaded than the 100m (Bolt, Blake, Gay, Dix, Gatlin, Weir).

interesting pics...... was gonna go out to des moines but the flights out there are ridiculous this weekend so im cool on that
