Django went from the fields of white cotton to the White House, but he still standing behind a white

I do find it hilarious that Obama becomes president and gradually multiple movies about the White House being in danger have been made.

But if he was in the front, you'd say he was a human shield for the white man...

Can't argue with this

Another message I missed. But they throw "from the director of Independence Day" in your face like "but we did this to the White House before, so were not making a statement in particular. I think it's funny.

I agree with everything u just said. BUT I think the real problem is the black actors tryna cater to everyone else and not embracing "where they came from" I miss those boys in the hood, takes from the hood, menace II society, Friday, the wood, new jack city, above the rim type of movies. Those were movies made for us by us without us tripping off us getting starring roles. Now we are castes in "their" movies mad at the role we got. Well how about we go back to doing us. We support our own movies its just not that many people are making em. And don't not one damn person mention Tyler perry

I agree with you and I will state for one I am not a Tyler Perry fan either. I hear you and I also miss that era of movies. However I put the blame more on black directors for not embracing telling OUR stories which I think is still important. I also blame black viewers who don't actively seek and support black directors with diverse subject matter but instead watch the same regurgitated Tyler Perry scripts and believe that those are the only movies being created that tell stories of the black experience.

Real issue here is wondering why Foxx would bother taking this role  . Dude is a good actor, he doesn't need to be in this type of cheesy movie.

You expect the president to put on a bullet proof vest and act like John McClane?

He doesn't want to get shot and that dude is secret service?

I don't know much about the movie, but I don't think that presidents typically try to be out front when people are shooting.

And you're my dude OP. Have you seen Red Tails yet?

What was the last black director to direct a "black movie" ? Baby boy? Lol
And u know I think that movies like the miracle at st. Anna or whatever it was called was a movie with black actors but it wasn't our kinda movie. When I say our kind I mean some of the conflicts like ww2 and Vietnam I don't really feel a connection to sorta so it turns me away from really Checking it out. Red tails was good but felt half Assad rushed and not even a complete movie

Wow. Just how ignorant are you? You want them to make movies that further reinforces the stereotype that all blacks are either drugdealers, gangbangers, or only good at playing basketball. You've got to be kidding me. That's not US, you maybe, but not US.

What's "your kind of movie"?
One that shows what I and a majority of black American males go through on the daily. Things that go on in my neighborhood. Things that how we are able to keep our head high and persevere through the struggle and oppression of my fellow man. With occasional rap music as the soundtrack and junkies and people on basketball courts and people sitting at the table eating fried chicken Mac n cheese corn bread and in a one parent household

The majority of the movies you posted are over a decade all which only strengthens my points. Also I am not sure but was RZA the lead protagonist in The Man With The Iron Fists?

Yes RZA was the lead in the movie

There hasn't really been that many new major action movies that aren't sequals

Terry Crews in The Expendables

What? Boys in the hood didn't reinforce a stereotype. The wood didn't enforce one. They showed how u can over come. Above the rim as well. Man U know what I mean stop making it seem like I want a dramatization of hood 2 hood

Here are some black directed "black movies" that I have watched recently that I enjoyed thoroughly!!

Spike Lee -Red Hook Summer (2012)
Sheldon Cannis - LUV (2012) I actually just watched this other night and it was damn good!
Tanya Hamilton -Night Catches US (2010)
Barry Jenkins - Medicine For Melancholy (2008)
Qasim Basir - Mooz-lum (2011)
Dee Rees - Pariah (2011)

I wish they made more movies like those urban films from the 90s, but that /@ ain't happening. Its about money. The culture ain't the same no more from the music to movies to life. Its all changed for better and worst. All we can do is reminisce and hope that what they say about life holds true.

I don't understand your basis for your generalizations.

So in your quest to be treated fairly by white America and to be seen as equal in Hollywood as well as other forms of entertainment, you think it's best to put out more movies that reinforce every negative stereotype that black people have to overcome on a daily basis.

Makes sense.
