You send pics back and forth. The gimmick is that you can have the pics send for 1-10 seconds only. If you screenshot the picture to have a second viewing of it, the person who sent you the pic is notified that you took a screenshot.

the idea is you can send pics and they can't screenshot them, aka, you can sext anonymously.
if they screenshot, they notify you, theres a way around it on iphones, and it stays in the history of an android for 6 hours.
but if you're talking to a big booty ***, you don't really have to worry about her being a hacker

If your iphone is jailbroken, you can download the phantom tweak where you can screenshot pictures without them knowing and look at the picture as long as you want.
