NFL Quarterbacks Discussion thread: 2013 Edition

Flynn at 32 though?

superbowl or bust for that hyped team. Every year from august to january i hear from every person in the city on how they taking it all this year and every 3rd week of january you cant find a fan  :smh: . I wanna hear the justification of matty getting a 100 millie contract with 1 playoff victory (inb4 romo cause thats not even my team).

Yeah because Matt Ryan played RB and defense this in the playoffs..what do you want fans to say...it was less than 10 yards from the SB his contract is well deserved...being that he's put the falcons in position to make noise in the playoffs since he arrived here..and lets not forget that 3 win season that happened after that Vick mess so kill that noise.

For someone who is a Falcons fan, you sure have a poor memory of your own team.

When did Matt have a 4,000 yard season before Dirk arrived?  How about 2011?

When did Matt have a 30 plus TD season before Dirk arrived?  Ok never but he had 29 in 2011.

Matty was well on his way to becoming an upper echelon QB in the NFL before the arrival of Dirk.  And you also fail to mention that Dirk's arrival also happens to coincide with Julio Jones' emergence.  I may have been exagerrating to say that Dirk wasnt "in any way related to Matt being on his way to being elite."  But I think you are EXTREMELY underselling Matt's growth as a player prior to Dirk.

Ok I see what you're saying..I can agree to a degree..but dirk plays a major role in Matt stepping up..the last OC was terrible and had shackles on Matt like he was still a damn rookie. I'll never forget those comments he made about that giants playoff game

I really don't have much to work with for Flynn. What the 2011 season finale? I cant think of any other games I've seen of him.
I mean he actually played pretty well Vs New England in 2010 when Rodgers sat with concussion. Might have won the game if kickoff team didn't squib and let a got damn OL take the kick back to the 5

But I'd for sure rather have Flynn than a few of those guys above him.

I still can't get over the butt fumble but I would still take Sanchez over Kolb and Weeden's old ***.

Keap at 9? Can he play a full season first before you anoint him in the top 10

Yes I'd take him before all those other guys listed. This isnt a legacy ranking.

That doesn't means he's the worst

Sanchez or gabbert should be 32

I cant do that. Sanchez led a team to the playoffs multiple times.

Gabbert has better tools than Flynn. Flynn has been a backup for 5 straight years.

Also guys you can make your own lists too and we can compare......thats the fun part.....it literally takes ten minites

Of all the young guns, Kaepernick has the largest jump to make as a passer and I am interested to see the improvements he makes

With Fred Davis healthy this year and Jordan Reed coming in, I think RGIII will be even more dangerous throwing the ball. No more relying on Garcon/Moss to somehow get open. No more hoping that Logan Paulsen won't drop the ball. Drafting Chris Thompson and Jawan Jamison will finally help with receiving production out of the backfield (not Alfred Morris' strong suit). The biggest question is the health of RGThreesus, cause he's got the weapons.

People are really overrating Ben from what he actually did. He was Trent Edwards most of the year with all those checks and short passes.
And of those 8 ints 4 came in the last 4 and with his team still alive for the playoffs he ended two games in a row with a game losing int. Him
and Haley won't last. Surprised Haley's still around for this year.

GMS putting Ben down? Never! Now just get dland and MPire so the trio is complete

All jokes, he wasn't the same after that injury, started out incredibly efficient

I actually think Gracon is your best WR?

I am just curious to know why you feel this is the case.  Kap had the highest completion % of balls thrown 20+ yards in the entire NFL, he had the highest YPA of any of the aforementioned young guns, and he did this while not having the luxury of having any chemistry with his receivers.  For someone who got next to zero first team reps until he became the starter, his stats are pretty comparable to any of the young guns.

I just need you to elaborate.  I am not accusing you of not watching his games, but there is a huge misconception that he is simply a running QB.

Its actually funny that you lump me in with people who dont like Big Ben.  I dont dislike him.  I think he is a good QB.  I just dont think he is nearly as good as people rate him to be.

I think the common NFL misconception is that running (and/or athletic QB's) either can't throw or need to improve in that area.

Kap does not that fit that category. Boy has a cannon.

Will NFL defenses adjust to Kap, RG3, and Russell? Yes, but at the same time those young QB's are watching film, getting smarter, and getting better.
