Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

Maybe I'm just a purist but is there particular reason you or whoever would want a photograph printed on canvas? The print shop I use in Chicago does it,but I think most people use that for like graphic based banners for durability/weather proofing purposes rather than like printing actual photographs on thematerial. I'm just confused as to why you wouldn't just get photographs printed on photo paper and then framed or mounted…

Not sure if anyone answered your question, too lazy to check the other pages after this.
But I recently ordered my Seattle Skyline 12x24 inches onto a museum stretch on canvas, $68 shipped.
I'll post up the website when I get home.

In my photography class, one of our prints was on canvas paper. It was pop art, so I didn't like how it came out so much, but I'll scan it soonhopefully. I heard that it is pretty expensive too.

I really don't see how using a Canon is going to make your photography better.

Get/use a Tripod. Get out of Auto modes, and put the Dial on "M", mess around with different exposure settings. ISO, Shutter speed,Aperture. You can go to a higher ISO and use a faster shutter speed, to get cleaner pictures, but the noise will most likely impact the photo in a negativeway. Your best bet, is to use a tripod, or get a fast lens.

Post Processing .. If you shoot RAW I suggest getting something like LightRoom ...

In order for your pictures to be sharper you need to have a higher shutter speed to minimize the motion blur .. whether it be big opening your aperture orcranking your ISO, however with certain lens just because you open your aperture to get a quicker shutter speed does not mean sharper pictures because somelens are just soft when wide open as oppose to when stop down .. everything can vary from lens to lens and place to place and subj to subj .. trial and errorand a lot of shooting man ..... I tend to delete a lot of pictures I don't like on the spot but like these I have save some .. so let me see if I have somehorrendous pictures ...

Also when you go out, if you think you are shooting 20 pictures and thats enough to have 20 keepers I think you are mistaken unless you are a pro and for prostandards and I'm sure that will never happen .. so key is to continue shooting shootin shootin and then evaluate your pictures ... I have gone out andshot no lie 200 pictures and came home and only picked out 2 or 3 and the rest are just total junk ..... I be piss and just call it one of those days ....

But yeah .. all in all shot RAW and come home and do some PP and the PS and sharpen as needed .. Im 100% sure that a lot of the people here do it and if theyare shooting RAW and state they don't then they are lying .. because most RAW files have to be sharpen period .. to tell you the truth sometimes if not allthe times jpgs straight from camera look better than RAW straight from camera, the difference come after you edit that RAW file .. then no competition!

and a tripod .. problem solve ..

besides that you can crank the ISO and see if you can get anywhere near 1/15 or so and maybe lean against something for steadier hands but besides that .. nosolution ...

BTW, Lets do a PANO week.

All that are for it let me know so I can make a list right quick, I don't want to be the only one posting. By Sunday night everyone that participated willpost their PANO. It can be of anything .. as long as its a PANO ...

No problem, how about you post some of your pictures and contribute to the thread?? Just want you to know that if you shoot RAW you will need to process yourpictures after you have taken them. You will also need a program to open them as Photoshop does not open them and./or your computer alone does not recognizethe file.

Lastly, try shooting in Manual Mode . At first it might sucks because you are constantly making adjustment, but at the end of the day you will have morecontrol and will get the pictures you desire ....

Kickmatic23:

Took a shot from your flickr. Did some quick PS on it, came out decent IMO.

What I did:

1. Resize
2. Auto Tone
3. Unsharp Mask (Amount: 30, Radius: 30, Threshold: 0)
4. Canvas size, 20px around, white.

LOL .. oh lord!

I don't think his Image Editing OK feature is on ... You violated the TOS ... You have been banned SaNti . J/K

Funny part is that if you would of have had the RAW file to mess with it .. it would of have came out that much better ...

thanks Santi, i can see a big difference... I really need to learn PS... maybe i'll look into taking a class for it?

so basically all sick pics are edited and not sick on there own.. thats the lesson i learned tonight

there's a image editing ok feature? I'm so in the dark with everything with computer %$!# its so not ok

I saw that on offer on Craigslist. I am selling my G9 right now and would have probably done it if I didn't have the D90.
I am game for the pano thing. I'll get something up by the weekend.

Correction .. PS can help but so much .. if the picture lacks interest, composition,. vibrancies, etc .. you might be able to help it with PP ..but this does not happen all the time.

However a good picture will become a great picture with some PP .. that's the lesson you learned ...

P.S. Expect Camera equipment to go to 40% off tomorrow in CC .. Digital Frames to 60% ....

For the Pano
