Sony suck for High ISO period ..

Do what you want ... But you need to invest sometime in reading reviews and chcking around and comparing pictures ..

what do you guys think of the Sony A200 as a beginner camera?
Get the D40 already..

AHH i know but this is driving me crazy. I went on a camera forum and they said that the A200 would be a better choice

It is a better camera than the D40. Nikon is ahead of Sony right now as a DSLR system. But A200 > D40. If you're not looking to make a significant investment in lenses, get the Sony. If you are, go with the Nikon. I have a Sony A300 and I love it. I also have have some old Minolta Maxxum lenses that I can use with it though.

But is that like comparing a Pinto to a Geo Metro? I am actually not necessarily making attacks but I (for some reason) hate the D40 as a entry level camerabut never get a Sony over that for the life of me. I would recommend Canon entry levels over them all but just a word of advice if you are into this wholething, expect to upgrade regardless and if that is the case, get the camera that you plan to invest lenses on.

On that note, I am out to shoot my pano. I think I have an idea of where to shoot (it will be indoors) so I'll post up later on in the night.

i had the same problem as the other guy, i need opinions asap! it's the nikon d40 or the sony a200.. i am looking at the reviews for both and everyone issaying they are amazing, this is such a hard decision

If I could find a D50 Body for 900 or a D5 Body for about 1k 1100 I'll cop .. that's my decision ... but I should really wait ..bah

50D - 5D

^ you take multiple exposures moving the camera inbetween each one and then use software to stitch them together.

Some really good ones on this page - I like the Paris one and the London Eye one.

Aight guys,

Im looking into gettin a Nikon d40 myself, but I noticed they sell a d40 and a d40x....

Ive looked around and read that the d40 has been discontinued, and the d40x was supposed to be its upgrade/replacement ...

I also see that the d40x has 10 megapixels, compared to 6.1 for the d40 ... (Ive also come across the d60) ...

When making the purchase, should I make it a point to look for the d40x, even though there may be a slight price increase? is it worth it?

Or should I look a little further, and shoot for the d60?...

D40 - D80/D90

Don't bother with anything else in between. PMA is this week though, and Nikon is introducing a new entry line DSLR since the D40 has been discontinued.

I remember reading somethin on slickdeals about that website, and how they had great deals, but their customer reviews and feedback were REALLY bad...

Guys might wanna look around for some info on them before purchasing, even though the site DOES look legit...

Yes, but the D90 for 420 with free shipping makes it seem too good to be true...what's the catch? If there's not one, it might be my opportunity to upgrade...
Dont buy from there, its basically a switch and bait tactic, your never gonna get the product unless you buy there countless amounts of addons.
