Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

Santio,

So your suggesting that I not bother with the d60 at all,

and that Im better off with the d40 instead of d40x? Any reasons why? (The 80 is kind of out of my price range)...

since i am limited to indoor activities, this is the best i could do.

sorry guys, next time i will contribute more

thanks guys .. I figure since most people that see the capital always see it from behind why not from the front .. lol

you guys see that little car at the end .. well it rushed towards me on my last shoot telling me that tripods were not allowed .. lucky I was done .. lol ...

I think the D40 has everything you need. Image quality between the D40 and the D40x/D60 is not going to differ much if at all. They just havebasic upgrades like a few more MP and some interface touches. All I'm saying is, you're not really getting a better camera than the D40 with theD40x/D60, and you wont take better pictures with a D40x/D60, so why spend $100-$150 when you can put that money towards a better lens that WILL make adifference in your shooting.

Like I said before though, I suggest you wait it out one more week, and see what both Canon and Nikon have to offer at PMA, that way you know you made theright decision with either, and wont kick yourself in the face when a better entry level camera is announced for a similar price point.

Word...Thanks man...

One more thing,

Ive seen on a few sites, that the "body only" is sold, meaning just the camera itself Im assuming...

Ive seen the d40/d40x bodies for between 270-300 recently...I believe they may be reconditioned (but they have at least some sort of warranty)

Am I better off scooping one of those "body only" joints for a cheaper price, or will the starter type kits be more worth it?

I have the D40X and I love it (although I'm looking into upgrading within the next 6 months). Truly, the only difference is 4 megapixels. Theextra 4 gives you a little more room for editing out mistakes or blemishes. It's ultimately up to you on whether or not you will be making big prints.

It's probably one of Nikons most versatile lenses, and praised by many Nikon shooters. If it was me though, I would keep the 18-55, and the55-200.

Here is mine. Pretty much killed two birds with one stone and visited the SF Museum of Science since it was raining. I shot with vertical photos so thatexplains why mine isn't so skinny. I must commend all that participated with this so far. Kind of neat how we have photos in HK, Paris, East Coast and theWest. If it is cool with you guys, I would like to post all who posted in my blog with of course photo credit to all with links to your sites, Flckrs, etc. Letme know if that is cool and if not, no worries.......

We need to do more of this.....for real.
