I know this is an ongoing "argument", so I'm not going to ask which is better; But how would you explain the differences between the two as far as making one more favorable over the other? Any help would be appreciated, TIA.
Comes down to preference. Got to a Camera shop and ask to play with both. They should let you use the body with whichever lens you want. Don'tgo to bestbuy though... Go to B&H or whatever dedicated camera shop you have around you.

ONly reason why Best Buy sucks is cause they are mostly busy and people are constantly in need of help. So when you want to really check out a camera, youreally can't cause the Best Buy worker is there waiting on you as well as the next person in line.

I went to Wolfs to check out my D90 and they were cool but I am sure it was just the lady that was helping me.

So is the D90 worth the upgrade? I'm on a D80 right now and pretty happy with it, but I hear the D90 is on another level, opinion?

Some of the new cameras around are making me want to ditch both Canon and Nikon.

Panasonic's Micro Four thirds new cam is impressive.

^^ you dont buy DSLR for videos ... but that's what hardcord photographers say ... I still want a Mark II

and IMO that was OK market price ..

Im going to sell my Canon XSi for $525 and 55-250IS for $205 together $700 ... I'm not sure if this is cool but is PP and Shipped 2-3 Priorityw/Confirmation and Signature ..

Also if anyone could shed some light on filters, that'd be nice. I'm looking for one.
I hate to post live links, but is this one any good? : http://cgi.ebay.com/Hoya-...3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

It's a toss up - Many people love filters and there are those that doesn't .. however the consensus is, if you are going to buy a Filter, buy onethat's worth a @@#@ and that one is not it ...

Most of the one people recommend are 60 and up ..

All this is new technology so expect every camera after the D90 and even the Mark ii with video capability to be better in the long run. This was like when Ifirst bought my first digital camera ever back in like 2001. It was a 3.2 megapixal with video but the video had no sound. Haha! Now we have camera phones with3.2 megapixals and DLSRs taking HD video. I am sure when Nikon and Canon announce their new batch of cameras, it will be better then the Panasonic joint.....

haha it wasn't my girl. hell she ain't even into photography like that. i was just using her sn.

and i went with the inexpensive $20 hoya filter which is doing well. if i had the choice though, i'd get the $60 because it's multi coated. but i dontknow much of the difference to say how one is better than the other.

i cant complain. i thought 40mm wasnt enough reach but the range is fine for what i do. its actually more than enough.

I am also an avid amateur photographer (Canon EOS 5D, 430EX, 17-40mm F/4.0L, 35mm F/2.0, 15mm F/2.8 fisheye)

Here are some shots I have taken in the last month or so, the E46 M3 and E39 M5 are mine and the Forester Sports XT is my friend Neil (sneiks on NT)

this my first time posting in this thread, and i wanted to say alota of these photo's are amazing and very skillful. I'm taking this beginningphotography class and very much interested in your guys opionions seeing what you guys been doing.

I have Monlto/Almonto x-370 ahh i forgot what brand it is.. but its a japanese brand.. its pretty old. Any advice on film photography.. black and white.. iso100-150.

Something I found online that some might find helpful to understand Exposure

From Craig Hickman"I'm testing a new Flash movie designed to teach exposure concepts as they relate to digital cameras. Anyone can use it but it was originally designed for my students at the University of Oregon in the Digital Arts, Digital Imaging class. It still has a few rough edges and bugs, but you can try it out"

This is very cool to play with!

sd is your normal sd card. sdhc is sd high capacity. they tend to run faster and have a higher capacity. the only downside is that they dont workfor all equipment.

i'm pretty sure the sdhc will work for your d40. i got a 4gb sdhc that worked fine with my d80 but then it doesnt work for my d50 (the d50 is way to oldhaha)
