i adore this photo! was it shot in b/w, or do you also have a color one?
would love to see it!

Does anyone have an XSI and 17-40 F/4L combo? Care to share some pics? I'm thinking of biting the bullet and making this my first big lens purchase.

What would you guys recommend if you were choosing between the 17-40 F4L or the 18-55 f2.8? I'm looking for something to take street, travel, and candidportraits with.

this place is in LA on wilshire. its basically a prehistoric tar pit. what happens is that animals wandered into the tar and got stuck there. predators andscavengers would try to attack them and get stuck also. those are whole skeleton fossils. basically, the animals would die and the bones would get preserved inthe tar. its crazy when you think about it. just a couple weeks ago they pulled some remains of a wooly mammoth.

Santi - You wanted some 35mm pics... here they are.. sorry for flooding the thread.. C&C

Canon does not have a 18-55 f/2.8 but I know you meant 17-55 2.8 ...

If you are planning on moving to FF in the near future I'll say buy the 17-40L but if you sticking with crop this is a no brainer 17-55IS -I'm willing to say buy the 17-55 and when go to FF sell it and buy the 24-70 2.8 - the 17-40 will be like a UWA lens in a FF ...

The only problem with the 17-55 is that its not built like a L but everything else its just like L quality ..... Sharpest Non-L lens Canon hasespecially WIDE OPEN!

Kicks - Nice pictures man ... I think you are def improving ..

Can someone clarify something for me? My OCD is KILLING me.

It's regarding my Canon 40D. I bought it as new off ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eB...em&item=110354392303

I looked on the top right where it says 100 - XXX and it's at 670. I've taken about 100 shots TOPS so far.
Thought it was my old CF card, so I switched a new one, but no difference. Does this mean that the camera has been used?

I've actually tried that prior to asking, but whenever I turn on the camera, "get count", nothing happens.

I'll give it another try, truly truly appreciate the help. Just hope I didn't get played...Feels like buying a used car listed as new.

Thanks elboricua 6

you cant keep track of shutter actions with the CF card ....

expecially if you inserted a used one .. if you buy a new one I believe you will see it at 0000 .. dont quote me on that ..

Thanks El, and yah I was definitely talking about the 17-55mm F2.8. As much as I'd like to move on to a FF soon, i think i'm stuck withmy XSI for a while.

Its all good - I actually miss my XSi ...

In that case if you have the extra cash go ahead and buy yourself that 17-55 is faster and sharper, if you aint shooting to much in low light or wide open thengo with the 17-40 which will be about 300 cheaper ...
