For some reason the architectural ones don't execute as well. I think since you are dealing with something that should be mathematically correct, it is

Thanks for the input. I had a feeling some of my shots should have been PP'ed, but the problem is I have no clue on how to use Photoshop to process pictures.

How would I start?

I mean everyone's PSing techniques are all different. I only mess with the levels, contrast, brightness, saturation if need be and (forgot the name for it)the one sliders where toy can minimize the strengths of the CMYK. But it really depends on if you are that type of person that wants photoshopped pics. It is alove hate and some people prefer the raw look and some like myself love the photoshooped look. I would get into more detail but I am at work and have no accessto PS. If any, I am sure there are a lot of tutorials online and even on youtube.

so quick question... d40.. can it take a 4gb or a 8gb SD card? i looked in the manual and it says something like only up to 4gb (i think it said 4) is tested to work in it.. thanks in advance

I'm gonna have to disagree with this, if your shooting a skyline or anything involvinga tripod keep your ISO at 100 and 200 max. You want theclearest possible shots when taking night shots and using a high ISO won't get you that. If your walking around a city and snapping away without a tripodthen it's a different story but i still wouldn't go past 800. i'd usually go with 400 as my max for that. Now for example i took this picture wheni was in vegas back in December, i hand held this shot with a shutter speed of 1/13 second and ISO 400. No tripod cause i forgot it and still got a pretty goodshot with it. I could of bumped the ISO up a bit but i wanted minimum grain. At 100% crop theres a few blurry spots but considering the conditions it came outpretty well. Didn't help it was 33 degrees out either and i had no gloves. I'm born and raised in Los Angeles so that was arctic weather for me

For night shoot a good tripod plus ISO 100-200 if you have extreme weather where wind is kicking around 400 take more than one picture .. you cant tell whatreally happen by looking at the LCD ....

I didnt even know there was a limit on memory card for certain cameras .. I think if you was to put a 8gb card it will still work .. but Im not sure on it ..

go for a higher ISO. the ISO is one of the things that determines how much light gets into the picture. If you're shooting at a high shutter speed, like 1/2500 and it's a bright and sunny day outside, you might want to try your ISO at 800. If the pic comes out too bright, bump it down to the next lowest setting (on my camera that would be 400, but every camera is different). the aperture is also a factor but it's more for the depth of field and how much detail you want in the shot. if you want to have a shot that shows all the little drops of water splashing about, then your aperture would have to be at a higher number (like f/8 or f/9). and since it would be at a higher number your ISO would need to be higher to make up for that because a high aperture means that the diameter of the lens is smaller which lets in less light.

I personally disagree with his method. I would bump up the ISO as a last resort--especially with a subject as sensitive as a waterfall. The littlest bit of noise or grain could really ruin that shot. If it's in complete daylight, I would go for a damn near closed up aperture, something like f/17 or f/19 and set the exposure to 1/250. If it's in the woods with trees and a few shadows and you don't like the blurry water shots, I'd open it up to f/13 and probably bump up exposure to 1/300 or whatever the next exposure length setting on your camera is just for good measure. I've never shot a waterfall or really nature for that matter, but these are just my guesses on how I would approach it. I always try to keep my ISO at 400 at the maximum unless I really need the shots to develop quicker for action shots in low light or something like that.

Thanks, took the EXIF info off my Flickr (I had it disabled but I enabled to get the information)... Hummm... oh was using the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 andHumm... I was probably a feet away from my dog if I recall correctly. Some minor PP in iPhoto (if that counts

how do you able exif data on flickr? i never see anyones data on flickr. even my own.

^ i know on the bottom right on a pic if you hit more properties it gives you the exif.. but i think you gotta go into settings to able it
