Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

^ Not sure whats wrong there, sensor could be damaged. Have you dropped it?

Try removing the lens, and attaching it again. Doesn't look good though.

good stuff everyone! i've been thinking about getting back into photography. i havent done much lately because ive been too busy, but with summer coming upit'd be nice to get back out there and start taking some pics.

i have a Canon A2E from the mid '90s but i'm wanting to get i digital body. nothing brand new, just an older digital body so i dont have to spend moneyon film anymore.

does anybody have any recommendations on older Canon bodies, and what to expect to pay? or if anybody has upgraded to something newer and has their old bodyjust laying around, please let me know.

thanks!

Update: Alright so I tried editing some of the pictures that were not messed up and it did the same thing again.
This has lead me to believe that it could be my computer that is the problem and not my camera.

I'm still going to get my thing checked tho. Thanks guys.

Could even be your SD card corrupting the files.

Wow you guys take some great pictures. I just bought a canon xti with a canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good bookto teach me the basics of photography. I'm a bit confused with when to use what f stop and general tips would be great.

so i've been trying to find a new walk around lens, and Narrowed it down between:

Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 and the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8, they are both under $400 any here have similar lenses to these?

also I found a Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 ($1600) how the hell are these 4 times as expensive? are they really that much better than 3rd party lenses? Or is it justall hype because of the NIKKOR tag?

I get the feeling that our friend Dave Virgile comes here to dump photos and then never reads what we have to say. I can recall at least TWICE that he has beenadvised to NOT shoot at ISO 1600 and these are the current stats of his latest shots...

Camera Make: Canon
Camera Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XT
Image Date: 2009:04:08 04:56:40
Flash Used: No
Focal Length: 55.0mm
CCD Width: 22.20mm
Exposure Time: 0.017 s (1/60)
Aperture: f/10.0
ISO equiv: 1600
White Balance: Auto
Metering Mode: Matrix
Exposure: Manual
Exposure Mode: Manual

Anyways...
DRich30: The last shot is outstanding. The composition and DoF are awesome.

I think he addressed it once. He said he likes the "Grain"

Is 530 a good price for a new Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi (400D)? Thanks in advanced for any replies.

i think the grain adds to the photo and almost makes it look like film. the photographer i posted about earlier, miami fever, shoots his lowlight pics atHigh 2 on a 5D and they come out very grainy.... but it adds to the feel of the picture.

the last set of photos i took were all shot at 1600 in lowlight, with the aperture at the lowest it could go, f/4- along with custom monochrome settings.

to each and their own, everyone does different things. but, if youre using high iso in bright light, thats just silly.

here are some of miami fevers high iso pics

I Just want to share some shots I took Lately.
Just Started this new hobby... Let me know what you guys think. Comments and Suggestions are very welcome.

I didn't think there would be another person shooting with Ricoh here on NT. Everyone's so adamant about sticking with Canon or Nikon.
I have no idea why but I guess Ricoh is a bit odd brand. Anyway, I love it! You got one too?

I think it's more important which brand you choose if you get a DSLR because it is part of a system..

I have a GX200 too. When I was deciding on what new camera to get after my LX2, it was betwen the Ricoh GR Digital II, Ricoh GX200, or thePanasonic Lumix LX3. After testing all three out, I left with the GX200. I feel that everything is pretty much on par with the other two cameras but it'smacro ability plus it's black and white shots just looked so much better. I also really dig it's low profile, black exterior. It's nice and lowkeyand doesn't really draw very much attention.

I do kind of agree about the DSLR's. Canon and Nikon do make the most affordable DSLR's with the widest range of lenses. I'd rather have a Leica M8though but, hey, who has that kind of money right?
