Such good pics Bana if you dont mind me asking what kind of camera you use?

Im trying to figure out what kind of camera i want to get next i was looking at the D90 but i think im gonna go with a Cannon this time.

I use a Canon 40D.

Ill be upgrading to a 5D Mark II soon. Im selling my 40D with the Sigma 10-20 lens.

Thanks

The more and more i look at Cannons and read about them the more i want one

ive looked at the 40d and your pictures are always on point so it makes it that much easier.

Painted Ladies HDR.
One of the most photographed spots in all of San Francisco but I haven't done it yet and I was in the area. Worth the trip and the long hunt for parking.Probably will return to get a shot at night.

use bridge to view your cr2 files =]

no point in shooting raw just to process to jpeg without editing...

i edit through PS & camera Raw. then i downsize my big to 8bit, and save the jpge copy.

just got home from a long day of shooting... i have 800 pics from today

Cool, I wanted to post this a while back but I wasn't sure who would understand or follow... I see y'all are shooting in RAW (and PP in PS & CameraRAW, which I am too) but my question is about saving RAW to JPEG and COLOR SPACE (specially when uploading to Flickr)?

sRGb vs Adobe RGB? I google, read up and only ended up more confused, and wishing everyone would just use Safari (because it didn't matter, it can view theimage how it should look), kind of wish I never notice or found out about Flickr "degrading" the images slightly. Any sugg. one which on is"best" for sharing and/or printing?

The color space on the cam is set to sRGB... but I like taking images in Raw -> upload open in Camera RAW (by the way you can select all RAW to open nCamera RAW not 1 by 1) - edit colors -> open in Photoshop CS3 -> Save JPEG... based on my EXIF it saves then as Adobe RGB (not sure how to save it thento sRGB but still keep the colors the way I edit them, if that makes sense).

To save everyone the reading, the back and forth... from research my conclusion is for sharing online (and Flickr) sRGB color space is best BUT I guess mybiggest problem is what should my work flow be OR how can I convert aRGB to sRGB without losing the "quality".

Actually, here is an example of a shot I took... I'm working on a a Mac (just mentiong all the variables here), I'm uploading a image grab to NT("insert image" upload option) to share (of course the colors will be lost again or isn't an actual representation of what I'm seeing on myscreen but) the point is to show how the same image look different on Flickr (also browser dependent) then the original...

Left is Safari (which again, according to my reading isn't affected like all other browsers). Middle is Firefox. Right is "Preview" of original.

I think tthe above is the best example I have now that demonstrates what I am trying to explain in words. I didn't think it would bother me but then Irealize if I take the time to edit the RAW file to look a certain way, guess I want them to look that way when I share too. I hope I explained myself alsoso that you can understand and provide insight. Thanks!

Also it was asked a couple pages back but I'm asking about having a "book" done....
Printing? In the very near future when I feel I've have at least 24 favorites I would like to print a nice but simple book with those images for my coffee, any sugg. on which printing service to use?

I also had the same problem, but not anymore.

first thing is first, firefox degrades your color!! that is something i do not know how to change, but if youre viewing with safari... thats how it will lookon most monitors.

however, flickr doesnt give you the full color either.. and thats based on your editing settings.

you need to change your color space in camera raw. directly in camera raw, when youre editing a photo.. to the left of the "open image" option, youllbe able to click to change the color space. you want it set to 16-bit, sRGB.

then, when you open the image, it will still be in CR2 format in PS, if you still want to do further editing. if not, then you go to image > mode >8-bit. that will then change it from RAW > Jpeg, keeping its colors.

let me know if that helps. again, ive been battling with the firefox problem for a while. at first i thought it was flickr, so i would boost contrast andsaturation on my images, then when i viewed them through safari... i realized it was just the browser.

hope that helps! maybe someone else has a better solution, especially to the firefox problem, arghhh! but with that color space, your pics should look fine onflickr.

^ Cool. Now can we be friends on Flickr.

Nah but seriously, thanks Bana... I never notice that option there - more like a "link" then a button. I just tried it and I was able to work in thesRGB color space and save it that way. Only thing I notice is the color space range is more limited (right off the jump or maybe I'm tripping).

Think that's it though... think that solves my problems in terms of how to work in sRGB for sharing online purposes. BTW not just Firefox but IE will doit too, Safari is just "smarter" then the other browsers in term of color space.

ugh. so frustrating. one day it will change! its just annoying because the majority of the people viewing our pics cant see the true colors. if anyone knowshow to fix it, let us know!

Hey guys!

I'm planning to buy a Nikon D5000 and I was wondering if anyone can share all the pros and cons of the camera from anyone that has it. Thanks in advanceguys!
