Official Photography Thread: Vol. ICan'tFindTheLastOne

I come from a long line of nikonians.

But im stumped. Canon 40d or the T1i?

Nah, i'm not interested in the 1080p 20fps video.

Um. I do like a lighter camera.

Yeah, I'm dropping the dough for 18-200mm lens just picking a camera now.

I want to test out these cameras, what store would have both?

I do like the magnesium case on the 40d. It strokes my ego.

All in all, I just want good photos. Some of the flicks taken here looking like theyre coming from a point and shoot.

Best price I found was the t1i + 18-55mm for 740 on tigerdirect.

Does anyone like the 18-55 over the 18-200? Meaning, is there anyone satisified w/ the 18-55.

Scratch everything I said.

I'm planning on getting the D90 thanks to my cousin.

I suggest the T1i since its the lighter camera. As for the lens, I'd go with the 18-200 preferably these Sigma 18-200mm w/OS. Although, the 18-55mmIS that comes with the kit is still good if you don't want spending right away.

Just recently bought my first SLR and heres some pics i took while i was playing around with with. Tell me what you guys think. and any tips/tricks to make mypics look more nice would be appreciated!

I'm doing this now, personal assignment I given myself (got the idea from an assignment wifey had when she was in school) but I'm only onletter "A" began the last week of May, I want to hummm... go in order though, we will see...

I have some ideas for "I", "O" and some of the "easier" letters but we will see.

I just wanted to share this.

I stumbled upon a photographer while I was at the Haight Street fair and got her info on a photo series she did. It's called Haight Space and the idea wasjust going around and taking photos of people that lived on Haight Street or worked there. Though it might be boring to some, I thought her portrait photoslooked awesome. Captured a real essence of who lived there with a different array of people. The guy owning the DVD rental shop I think is the best. Check itout:

I have a thing with objects in hotel rooms. This is NOT the first shot I have of a hotel room phone. Weird.

Yes. Either that or the XTi but get the XSi since it is a updated version of the beginner SLRs.

^^ thanks... was it hard to get used to all the options and menus on the camera for SLR's? ... we have a canon SD630... so i guess we are a little familiarwith canons menus.... but with shutter speeds, iso and all that other stuff seems like a big headache...

You don't HAVE to learn all that stuff because there will be an Auto and an Auto w/o Flash setting. But if you don't wanna learn them, youmight as well save yourself the size and little bit of money and the future amounts of money you'd spend on lenses and just get a Canon G9 or G10. Themenus probably won't be the same. Maybe the same colorscheme, but other than that they'll probably be really different.

Get it my dude. It is easy enough to learn and it will get you guys both into photography. It does it for most....but watch out cause it becomes an expensivehobby.

NT, I want to buy an SLR but IDK which one. I'm debation a Nikon d40, Canon Rebel XSi and Canon Rebel XTi. Which one isthe best out of the three? Is this a good deal?
deal

Another thing, can someone give me some websites that sell cameras? I want to find a good deal on one of the cameras I listedabove. Thanks.

^ I would consider the XTi only if I was planning on not spending on the body, and going for lenses. The XSi replaces the XTi. The XSi is newer hardware thanthe D40, but I dont think you will notice it in image quality. I say go for the one you can get cheapest and get some dope lenses. Unless you're like meand like having the new ishh...

I recommend going to a store andplaying with both the XSi and the D40/D60. That XSi at Costco is far from a deal. It's retail.

Here are some more shots from the Kouki shoot. C/C Please! I know I need strobes quicktime, but Honda Civics will do for now.

Here's a few more I shot at a local park:

The first one is my first attempt at HDR; everything else was just shot using the wide angle.
