^Qoute myself to remind everyone (or share w/ those that missed it) of the "on-going assignment", whatever you want to call it, the"wizard/witch trip"

OK, so I took my shot over the weekend, nothing amazing but I did the "assignment" and hummm... I have to say it will be tough because the toy is sosmall BUT I'm sure all of y'all who participate will manage and get creative. I took several shots at random location (but I guess we should share 1)so I'm going with this one...

As I think about it,

@ people faces and reaction as they see me take apicture of this toy. I did ship the toy to Kickmatic23today and it was only $1.39 (and consider I used a rather big padded envelope because I already had it), but placed in something lighter and smaller I bet thecost can be less, at any rate that's only 3-4stamps. Next up (after Kick), I guess who ever PM Kickmatic first (w/ shipping address) and can coordinate, then he will update us. Take your time but if we can maybe take pictures on the weekend and ship on Monday, we would see a new image approx. every week...maybe.

What else, Oh can someone qoute me on the next page

too good of a deal with the zoom lens basically for free. I can sell the zoom lens for $200 and basically have the XSI kit for $545, bananas.Plus the vid isn't that smooth on the T1i, I'll wait for more video advancement.

how often do you all use flash?

i rarely ever use the flash (stock) . . but after tonight i realized i need to pick up on some tips

awesome pic. such a great room for this kind of shot. i like how your bed is placed in the middle, not against a wall.

so I have a question for some of the photographers on NT.

I'm going backpacking through Europe for 6 weeks and I'm debating whether to get the new Nikon 35mm /1.8 prime lens.

I have a D40 with an 18-200 lens already.

I plan on using the 18-200 90% of the time, especially during the daytime. I love the lens, but the only problem is it's a little slow. I was thinkinghaving the prime lens would be nice to take pictures in dim lighting, say if we were out at a cafe at night or something.

What do you guys think I should do? get it or is it not really necessary?

Definitely take both, it's a great idea. Keep the 18-200 on at most times, you never know when you'll find yourself in a situation where the zoomwill be really beneficial. Especially if you're in Europe and backpacking, I'd be willing to sacrifice the improved image quality from the prime tohave the flexibility of the zoom to capture things in a wide variety of situations you may find yourself in.

The 35 will be key at night, eliminating the need for you to carry a flash and saving you some weight. You'll really appreciate it's speed indoorsat night, the 18-200 will be useless then.

I think you'd have a great combo for most situations. Happy travels! Post your pics on your return

PoeticJays - Get the 35mm but bring both... I work similar... I have a d40 and usethe 18-105mm during the day and the 35mm at night. You should be set with both
