Was away for a few days last weekend at the place my Scouts own. Took a few pics. Took a few shots for HDR but none of them were very interesting. The first one here is an HDR of 3 different exposures and it came out okay. I was just walking back up the beach on Saturday and noticed the little pile of rocks someone left.

This one was on Saturday afternoon - that's Lion rock in the distance (because it looks like a Lion) and Pig on the left (because it looks like a pig but from a different angle).

Then a few shots from much later that night - about a 10s exposure for the first and 20s for the second as it was taken a few minutes later and the sun was sinking fast.

I like the second one a lot better. I would have liked to have been a little nearer the waterline but I was already lying on wet sand. Not sure about the focus of either of them - I think it's a bit near. I didn't have my new lens yet (arrived yesterday though) so I would like to try them again with the hyperfocal distance set.

^^ Would have to agree they don't really strike me as that random. The last one is far and away the most interesting, other than that you cropped the guys arm off it's nice.

The first one is underexposed the subject should be the focus in metering the shot either that or just meter for the shadows which in this case would be the same....

The 2nd one is oldly framed I would either do one of the following crop the image into a portrait on him, or stand futher or closer to the subject next time. Feels like you're trying to ride the fence of too close or too far away...

Btw, for the people who read this post and not a whole lot else or whatever. I'm starting a photoseries on sneakerheads the details are in my post dedicated to that, take a look in there if you want and haven't yet...

Well... I never tried taking photos of people skating, or looked at many of them.
But I think the pictures could've been better.
But that's just me, and I find a lot of things random, so yeah....

im new to DSLR.. i got a 350D kit. well im going to philippines on dec. whats a good but not pricey lens/filter for white sand beach?

Pls recommend some good filter for my kit.

thats a very nice panoramic up there... what kind of software you guys using?

damnitzdom Lighting wise... you have mixed light which is difficult to balance so what looks like flash a well spread flash maybe even a strobe (hard to say) is slightly cool (temperature not the slang term) but the background has incandescent light that is quite yellow. As far as exposure it's fine, it's a quite strange composition so it's really hard to talk about it beyond that...

My Mom just called me to take some pictures of this tree in our yard because we have never seen anything like it, and before the leaves drop. When I was snapping these, it reminded me of this thread. But I have never posted any pictures, so here they are.
